Amazing stay! Incredible location. Perfect to walk to all the sites, restaurants and Essex St pedestrian mall. Rooms were very clean and updated. The back porch to relax on was so nice. Loved the snacks and coffee available in the kitchen and outside our room. Definitely the best place to stay in Salem!

We stayed at the Merchant for a long girls weekend visit to Salem. The communication with booking and parking was perfect and we were so excited when we arrived to see how beautiful the Merchant was inside and out. The location is perfect and accessible to all the tours and places of interest. We immediately felt welcomed and comfortable . The pantry was such a nice touch and everything was so delicious . The rooms were immaculate and supplied with everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio to enjoy the weather. The service was impeccable, I would highly recommend staying here !

Let me just say, The Merchant is the most excellent choice for your stay in Salem. It is smartly furnished, clean and the staff are very friendly. They have pastries in the mornings and yummy cookies in the afternoon and nice little snacks in between. All the little details are thought of and taken care of here. I would absolutely stay here again. What a gem of a place!

We highly recommend this fabulous hotel for your Salem trip! The location is perfect. The staff is wonderful and beyond helpful. The breakfast is delicious with scones and a frittata each morning. Rooms are comfortable and clean.

My sister and I stayed here for a birthday weekend. Such a charming hotel, excellent location and great service! We especially loved the hot cider and cookies every afternoon. And the heated floor in the bathroom. You really can't beat the location - in the center of everything.

Excellent stay at The Merchant during the busy month of October! Delicious light breakfast options and afternoon nibbles! Room was clean and spacious. Hotel security was great. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful! Nicely located wihtin easy walking distance to popular spots, but just off the main drag enough to feel more private. The swag bag was unexpected and so lovely. Would stay here again without hesitation.

If you’re able, you should definitely treat yourself to an amazing experience at The Merchant! The historic home meticulously maintained and situated in the perfect location in town. Beautifully designed and decorated, expertly managed. The staff could not have been nicer!

The hotel staff was assuming!! Shay and Amy were incredibly kind and helped with any and every question we had!! And Dee, wow, her hands are made of gold. Dee’s morning and afternoon pastries always tasted like they were fresh out of the oven! So so so good. The location was perfect!!! Smack dab in the middle of everything. It was the perfect hotel for a “home base”. I can’t wait to stay there again!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The property itself is charming and extremely clean. Perfect location. The staff is plentiful, courteous, and helpful. A gift in your room and snacks are available at no charge.
