Camping le Chateau

Did not get one full night's sleep, music constantly blasting out from 9:30/10 am until 00:30/01 am. Parties/noise throughout the night, finally had enough and checked out early - no surprise from staff who's only reaction was - you can't get a refund! (I hadn't asked for one) Pool is small and crowded but the kids enjoyed the slides. Photos are fairly misleading about the pool. Campsite is generally unkempt looking and the pitches are very small and closer together. The takeaway pizza we got the first night was tasty and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The location is good for cycling routes and beaches nearby but we won't be back here again

It has to be noted, we have only stayed on five star campsites in Italy and the UK, so this is all we can compare to. This is our first campsite in France. Initally upon arrival we were disappointed with the site as the pitches are close together and scruffy looking. We were visiting with our own caravan. The plants and trees are not well tended too (as in watered or cut) which adds to the scruffy and dusty look around the site. The pool area and slides is great and whilst there are rules, common sense has prevailed and you are allowed to just enjoy yourselves and do your own thing. Staff in all areas were welcoming and polite although most struggled with basic English - not that was a huge issue for us, but we did have a storm one evening and the security team could not speak any English and the site had lost power. All entertainment is in French even around the pool area. The evening entertainment (which we only attended once) goes on until after 11pm and can be loud. Overall we enjoyed the site, especially the pool and slides! We would definitely visit again.

We stayed in the mobile home as a family in August 2022. Our home had rather central location but luckily far from evening entertainment. We were also lucky with the neighbours. They all had kids and went to sleep early. The only noise at night was due to the badly made manhole cover on the road near our house which made a loud noise when someone stepped on it. The house was rather new and very convenient. Parking was a bit tricky but feasible. On some nights it was quite hot but not so bad as I expected, so you can survive without aircon even in August. We rented bikes and explored the region by bikes, so we almost didn't use a car. You can bike to the ocean through the forest. The ocean is VERY cold even during hot and dry weather in August, so don't expect to swim a lot. The rental bikes in the camping were very basic and some of them had problems with gears. If you can rent elsewhere, do it. Also it's hard to find a proper bike for 8 yo, our son had to use smaller bike. The shop at the camping is very basic, so if you want to cook you probably will have to go to hypermarket (5 min by car, 10 min by bike). The restaurant can be full in the evening so make a reservation or use alternatives (food truck or pizza take away). The meals are tasty and the prices are OK. We didn't have to use shared sanitary facilities but I went to check them out of curiosity and found them to be super clean. The water slides are quite slow and you can stuck in the middle. To me they were not very interesting but my kids liked them. The majority of the holiday makers are French (maybe more than 95%) with a few British families. I didn't hear any other languages during the whole stay. Most of the staff can speak English, so the language is not a problem. But the kids won't find a company if they don't speak French, though the French kids are very friendly and try to start a conversation. In general I had a very good impression from the camping. I am surprised to read bad reviews below. Maybe someone was unlucky with location. Our family had a very good stay.
