La Maison des Ocres - Provence

My review is based on the lack of communication from the owners; I booked a refundable room on their website and was emailed a receipt for paying a quarter of the room cost and a separate welcome email noting that the owners remain at my disposal for any additional information. The next day the others in my travel party said they wanted to take a different route, but I didn't see a way to cancel the reservation on the website and the emails didn't have any links to do so either, so I wrote an email to the email address listed on the website and waited four days, but received no response. I then sent a second email to cancel, also mentioning that I hadn't yet heard back from my first email. Because I hadn't received a reply the next day, I decided to write to La Maison des Ocres through the "Contact Us" link on their website in order to male sure they would see my request, but it has been 3 days and there has still been no reply (I even check my "Spam" folder). An auto reply would be nice if the owners are not available, as they could state that they will respond when they return from their own vacation, or whatever the case may be. The booking is still almost 5 months from now, but I do worry when an establishment is unresponsive. To no avail I once left multiple voice messages in addition to my emails requesting a refund for an apartment in Paris that I cancelled well in advance, so I had to get my credit card company involved, which I hate to do, so I am once-bitten-twice-shy when it comes to these things. I booked directly through the La Maison des Ocres website thinking it would be better for the small business owners, plus I am trying to give them immediate and well-in-advance notice on a change in plans, so it is disappointing that there is silence from them. Maybe it is best to book through a large company's website where responsiveness and convenience are present.

We had a nice stay at La Maison des Ocres. We booked 3 rooms and the hotel managed to get them side by side. It is located only a short walk from the village main square and is conveniently located near a public car park. They also have a nice swimming pool and restaurant for a three stars hotel. The team was always friendly. It was great value for money!

We stayed at the Maison des Ocres for two wonderful days in mid-June. We had stayed there previously, in September of 2019, and we very happy to return to this beautiful hotel. The excellent location is perfect for visiting Roussillon and many of the nearby Luberon villages. Olivier and Julie are new owners since our last stay and they have done an amazing job with their renovations. They were extremely welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with a little balcony overlooking the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed the beautiful swimming pool which was very refreshing after a hot summer day of sightseeing. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner in their restaurant, adjacent to the pool area. The service and food were both outstanding. The prior 5* hospitality experience of the new owners is definitely reflected in the quality and value of the hotel and restaurant. We will definitely return to the Maison des Ocres on our next visit to the Luberon.

We had spent a few days near Orange and wanted to explore a different part of Provence. I picked Roussillon as it seems so beautiful (it is) and then found this lovely hotel. It’s perfectly positioned at the edge of the town, with its own private parking. You can be in the centre of the village in 10 minutes. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful: very welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant the first night, which was excellent, and the owner recommended several restaurants for us on the Monday night when the hotel restaurant was closed. The rooms have great views over the Provençal countryside and are well equipped. The swimming pool is quite small but the area around it is lovely and well shaded. The breakfast is huge with lots of choice. All in all an excellent location and stay.

The facilities are a bit contemporary, in a fabulous quiet location near a fabulous very old hill town. Nice pool, now a restaurant (dinner only) with a lovely menu. Best: owners Julie & Olivier. We’ll return again to see them. Excellent bicycling in area — also Mt Ventoux.
