Hotel Principessa Isabella

On two previous trips to Rome - more than 10 years ago - I/we had stayed at a 4* hotel southwest of Termini. My recollection of changes in that part of the city between first and second stays was reinforced by recent user reviews (NOT of that particular hotel, but of the neighbourhood) so I went looking for an alternative "nice place to stay". I must say that the "Principessa Isabella" performed that role very well! The hotel is a modest walk (20-40 minutes) from the main Roman sites (and close to at least one bus route to the Termini area) - it is also a very affordable taxi ride to such sites. The area around the hotel felt very safe and included various government offices and international banks. I loved the room (101): a nice bathroom and a decent amount of space. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The quotes from "La Divina Commedia" on the ceilings (I asked and was told that this decorative element was not unique to room 101) are a lovely touch! Breakfast was perfectly fine, with, perhaps, a tendency towards sweet items. I must say that I was a little disappointed - my only disappointment overall - that coffee at breakfast was from a machine even though there was a "proper" espresso machine in the adjoining "bar area". Reception staff were friendly and helpful - and I even managed to introduce the evening staff to the traditional aperitivo of my adopted home, the "pirlo". I really do hope to return in the next year or so as there is so much still to see in Rome - and the "Principessa Isabella" is a fine base for such exploration!

Great location, wonderful air conditioning in the foyer. Rooms were cool, beds comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. Very quiet hotel. Buffet breakfast was average. Reception staff unfriendly, not helpful and when we asked for a taxi he flicked his hand at us and told us to go down the street and we would find one, pompous man. So tired of rude unfriendly reception staff in Italy.

Good hotel , Decent location, very quiet side of Rome, Probably like a 20-30 min walk from the main center city and not too far from bus stops. Beds were good , Rooms are very small. Staff was realtively friendly, small and for the most part rooms were clean. Breakfast is okay but without variety and small Area for restaurant . I would rate the hotel as okay but nothing special.

Good location for the hotel if you don’t mind a walk into Rome. Room was nice but sound proofing awful, despite it saying on the site I booked that there was sound proofing and one of the reasons I picked it. Breakfast a bit basic but ok. No drink making facilities in the room which is not great if you want a drink before you get dressed etc. Staff could barely manage a smile unfortunately. Also didn’t seem to want to prepare drinks for us at ‘the bar’. We were ignored and then when drinks were served it made us feel like an inconvenience. I wouldn’t stay here again.

This hotel was quite a nice stay, we had a room with a nice shower and it was very pretty with comfortable beds. Only issues with the room was no power points near the bed to charge devices overnight, and the room was slightly smaller than necessary for two suitcases, but other than that it was fantastic and the staff were very nice during check in/out, aside from the confusion as I had paid for minibar drinks but they had tried to charge me for those drinks during checkout, this was resolved extremely quickly and easily though and did not delay us in the slightest. Will stay again at this hotel as it was very nice!

The hotel was nice and nicely decorated. Rooms were relatively big and comfortable. They had a great shower soap. The only strange thing we found were two devices in the bedroom and in the bathroom. They look like cameras! Please check the attached photos. Perhaps the Hotel management would like to explain what are they?
