Just don’t even think of going here. We didn’t even stay. There is not one luxury thing about this place . Tired , old , grubby , gross. Think the owner lives in the sitting room . Wouldn’t give us our money back . Still traumatized . Totally disgusting .

Excellent from start to finish, couldn’t fault anything, friendly helpful staff, breakfast was lovely, rooms were very nice and the location was excellent, would definitely stay here again. Richmond is a really nice place to visit. Xxxx

A very friendly place to stay. Far removed from the corporate hotels that are all over the place now, this is a place with character. The building is interesting, each bedroom or suite has it's own individual character. There is a good selection for breakfast (that is well cooked).All in all a top place to stay if you like something that's different in a good way.

Describes itself as boutique luxury which it isn't. Our room has cracked floor tiles in bathroom. Wonky lock on door. Wonky loo roll holder. No remote for TV and no warning of it being missing so had to get up to turn Chanel as sound down. Carpets very marked and grubby as mattress pretty hard. Odd nice touch, such as tea tray, individual choc mint and good quality breakfast and accomodating when had to change last minute. We paid £114 b&b compared to The Fleece 's rooms at £150 which are luxury. Friendly ladies on check in and breakfast.

Bath unuseable large crack at the bottom. Bathrobes unwashed since last occupant. Told by email we had been upgraded but given room which was very shabby. Bedding very shabby overall. Cash machine not working and had to go to post office to get some money the same applied to everyone staying there. One the way back to hotel from post office found traffic warden was giving us a parking ticket. All in all not a good experience.

Nigel was really welcoming on arrival with a welcome drink that was much appreciated. We were upgraded to a different room we had booked to accommodate another guest and don't have any complaints. The rooms were quant and quirky and location perfect. Lots of parking nearby and places to eat. The breakfast was AMAZING, we were full for the rest of the day! Would really recommend staying here, and would stay again.

My parents needed somewhere to stay for 2 nights as had come to Richmond from wales to celebrate my 50th with me. No one there to greet them on arrival and the room was incredibly shabby . Curtains were hanging off the curtain rail, the room needed a good lick of paint and to be aired out as smelt damp. Quite embarrassing as we were told this place is highly recommended but definitely NOT luxurious and not worth what they paid.

This is a beautiful building with welcoming hosts. We were offered a drink on arrival which was very welcome after our journey. The room (The Wensley Suite) was gorgeous with views of the castle on one side and the quaint town on the other. Breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend Castle House and will certainly be back to stay here when we visit the area again.

Diana welcomed us to this b/b as Nigel the owner was on vacation. Even so he phoned to check our eta etc. from his vacation. Diana was very well organised and could not do enough for us. Her breakfasts were a credit to her and very well presented. The room was clean and refurbished on request daily. Nice sitting room and library area to chill if you wanted to get out of the room.We will definitely visit Diana again as she was the backbone to this business in Nigel’s absence. Pity we have to do our own breakfast tomorrow.
