We returned to La Marquise this September, following our 10 day honeymoon here in September 2023 and unfortunately it didn't quite live up to our previous experience. It started on a bit of a bad note, which really ruined our first couple of days. We'd requested in advance a room in one of two blocks in the adults only area (near to the room we were in last year) and upon a very late arrival, we got taken to an alternative block. Now, I know you can't guarantee any specific room, but out of a choice of eight rooms, I find it hard to believe that none were available. When we opened our curtains to take in the view in the morning, we were greeted by a door in which the double glazing had blown and there was no seeing through the cloudy door. Not what you expect when paying £3k for a seven day holiday! To add insult to injury, the shower also flooded the whole room. We addresses all of this with reception, who sent housekeepers to clean the glass (which is not cleanable) and a maintenance man to fix (take the filter out of) the shower. Again, neither appropriate resolutions on a "luxury" holiday. The reception team did however say that we would be able to move into an alternative room (in our preferred block) the following morning, so to come back then. We did as requested, and did not unpack for two days whilst awaiting our move, to be told "the reservation manager says you can't move". So it was very frustrating to see empty rooms in the blocks we wanted to be in, during that day. This really spoiled the enjoyment of our first two days, but we settled in to try and make the most of our holiday. Now for the good bits... There's never a fight for a sun lounger in the adults only area, so this was welcome when we did snuggle for a race down at the beach. We arrived around midnight, and there were wraps left in our room, alongside a happy anniversary cake and wine. This was a really lovely touch. Aside from the poor experience with the reception staff, all other staff were very friendly, many recognising us from last year, and giving a very warm welcome. The bar and restaurant staff work so so hard, and it's so appreciated. We had a black card, as we stayed adults only all inclusive, so were able to make use of the al a carte restaurants for dinner, and the upstairs restaurant for breakfast, as well as the Da Vinci main buffet restaurant. We used both the upstairs and main restaurants for breakfast, brilliant service in both, obviously more choice in the buffet, but lovely freshly prepared eggs upstairs. We used Da Vinci for light lunches and there was often a good selection. We also had the most lovely lunch at the Gondola pool restaurant, as one of our entitled al a carte meals. The portions were huge and the waitress (I didn't catch her name) was super friendly and attentive. The Grill and Asian al a carte were delicious too, both very high quality food and service. The coffee house is lovely, we went out on a couple of mornings and this wa
