We arrived at 3am and went to our room, to find someone else in there! Once this was sorted out and we were given room 614 - which was absolutely nothing like the pictures. It was mouldy and filthy and just disgusting to be honest and we are not actually fussy people! I would give this hotel 2 stars at best due to the level of cleanliness and the general state of the hotel which had broken furniture and torn sofas in communal areas. The pictures do not reflect this hotel at all.

Would not recommend this hotel. Food repetitive and covered in oil, we ate out nearly everyday as found the food repetitive and not enjoyable. Staff at front desk not helpful when complaining 3 days in an row because of shouting and banging at 3am and 5am we requested room change and they would not accommodate saying no rooms available in April when it’s not even high season, a very couldn’t be bothered to help approach and not overly friendly just call up in night if continues, so happy for all guests to be woken up each and every night. Hotel needs a revamp ripped furniture in main areas, dated bar and arcade and damp smelling rooms. Bedrooms dated, water coming through drain in bathroom, rock hard beds and towels and bedding marked and not clean. Daytime staff work hard to keep people entertained and bar staff very friendly they are the plus to the hotel. This hotel could be great with location etc but we would not return or recommend.

Where to start with this place… Upon our arrival we decided to take a look at the hotel bar, priorities. The bar was a pit of despair which offered beer, wine from a tap of a choice of repellent cocktails, coupled with atmosphere that made you wonder if you were in a hospital waiting room. We then made the executive decision to go to the room to get changed and go to a local bar. The room was absolutely vile! Rock solid yet lumpy bed, wardrobe that had stains in it but nothing trumped the bathroom, toilet seat that didn’t fit the toilet, a bath with a shower in it that I was unwilling to stand on in my bare feet and you get to meet your shower water for a second time as it rises up onto the bathroom floor from the drain. The entertainment seems to be operated by one single man who works harder than the devil himself. He offers darts during the day and a show (of sorts) at night, he himself is a lovely man but should not be left to his own devices. Don’t worry though, there is plenty of entertainment from the assemblies of drongos that frequent the hotel. I don’t even know what to say about the buffet other than if you love oil covered potatoes and dry pork for every meal, then you’re on to a winner. It’s obvious that there has been no renovation work for the past 20 years which is the amount I have aged after spending a week here. I wouldn’t even say that it was value for money as we met other travellers who paid less for their hotel yet it was much nicer so it seems that in this case, you don’t even get what you pay for. Other guest had made valid complaints to the manager (such as water coming from a hole in their ceiling) and the manager was rude and unwilling to do anything to help despite there being plenty of unoccupied rooms.

This hotel was just what we needed for a week away, all inclusive, at a poolside and seaside resort. Bar and entertainment staff were attentive and even remembered our names and we were really impressed by them. Pool is large and nice, with plenty of loungers and a poolside bar. The entertainment was cheesy but good fun if you get involved after a few cocktails! The food was ok, as expected for an all inclusive buffet, with a fair amount of repetition, but even still something for everyone. Our room was simple and passable, but the cleanliness left some room for improvement. The bathroom needed a scrub, having evidently had a high level clean, the tiles and generally everything needed a deep clean. I didn’t feel that the room was fully cleaned the whole time we were there - just the bed being made really. On more than one occasion we were given dirty towels but these were replaced when asked. We had a pass to the a la carte restaurant, Mamma Mia, for one night, and this was not good, we wished we’d just stayed at the buffet. There was literally no atmosphere at this place. We were told it was booked out for a few days so we had to do it toward the end of the week yet when we went there there was maybe 5 other people sat to eat. The bread came to start with only one plate for us to share - a small thing but started us on the wrong foot. The service was not good, slow despite the small amount of people in attendance and not very attentive. I ordered the Caesar salad to start which was pretty good and the best part of the meal. The risotto which followed was not great and the cheesecake was the worst part of the meal. It came in a plastic container (evidently bought and not made) and was half synthetic jam-like compote, honestly the worst cheesecake I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t bother with Mamma Mia if I went again. Overall, I think the place could do with a spruce up but it is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Definitely visit old town, lindos, and especially symi island when staying, we did trips to these places and loved them.

Multiple reception staff are rude. Maids are in every day but don’t actually change your sheets, only once during your stay and ours had stains all over like chewing gum stuck in it and a black tinge all over. Took 2 hours and still nothing done, multiple trips to the reception desk and informed a member of staff will come to the room to check the sheets. All I wanted was a fresh sheet to sleep in, we’re with a 5 month old baby who I don’t want sleeping in dirty linen. The towels are changed every couple of days. Food is miserable, coated in oil your plate ends up drenched in it. Entertainment staff are lovely but the kids disco is mid, wouldn’t bring my children here for that. Only giving it a 1 star because I can’t give it anything less.

Having spent 2 weeks here with my family I can honestly say that we had a fantastic time. Shelly, Billy and the whole animation team were absolutely fantastic and so welcoming. Would 100% come back again. They really go above and beyond for everyone! Hope so see them when we return! The hotel was lovely and the rooms were lovely and cleaned every day. The hotel staff were great too. There was great selection of food too, definitely something for everyone. All in all I really can’t complain as I said we have had a great 2 weeks! Again a big shout out to Shelly and Billy they really make Sunshine Rhodes Hotel a fun place to be!
