We enjoyed every second of our time at Alphotel Tyrol and I’m still incredulous when I look back at photos. I can’t believe we were really in such a beautiful place, and that we enjoyed such unbelievable hospitality and care, with so much attention to detail. We loved the daily variety of wholesome outdoor activities for our son to enjoy, and the family hikes we enjoyed so much with Andreas. We were all but knocked flat by the spa, which is immaculate and incredibly peaceful, as well as state-of-the-art. We loved the complementary experiences like a sugar scrub with local rosemary and blood orange, and the saunas with special scents like the forest, or fresh lemon. The fact that the childcare was available for free as part of our stay (including a massive indoor soft play!) meant that we had daily opportunities for time together in the spa, pools or- my personal favourite!- the outdoor infinity jacuzzi. Family holidays are never like this! The whole hotel is dotted with comfortable places to sit and take in the breathtaking surroundings. Somehow, the landscaping also creates a visual break from the many outdoor kids activities, such as the shaded sandpit and the amazing slide, so that from our balcony all we saw was Tyrol- nothing plastic or garish whatsoever. We enjoyed 5 course meals and buffets including octopus and prawns and smoked salmon. I had Parma ham and melon often- and homemade ice cream every single day- usually twice! This was all part of our stay, and the freshness and quality of every meal was exceptional. Every morning, we were greeted at our table (which had a view of ponies in the fields beyond the stream and wildflowers) and presented with a daily Morgenpost newsletter. The hotel mainly welcomes German and Italian-speaking guests, but we had a version in English, full of ideas for local things to do, local legends, jokes, a reminder of what was on for the kids and the last available spa slots. It was brilliant and we read the whole thing every day! A huge highlight for me was taking an ebike for a spin, up and down enormous, steep mountainsides without my thighs complaining! The hotel lends them to guests for only 30 Euros for an entire day- which I would have paid per minute, had I known how much fun it would be! Utterly liberating, pure exhilaration! I loved the details. The welcome drinks, and the drinks and nibbles evening hosted by the family that owns the hotel. The spa bags, big enough for your towels and a good book, and which even came in mini size for kids! The hotel backpacks, the top-of-the-range ebikes (to rent) and prams and mountain bikes to borrow (for free). The cinema and bowling alley in the basement for the children..! If it sounds ridiculous, it’s because it really was the most extraordinary place. It felt like it had been designed and developed at every step with love and attention to detail, and always with our comfort and wellbeing in mind. I honestly don’t know how they have created such a luxurio
