A beautiful stone Cotswold cottage with 3 double bedrooms in the peaceful, historic village of Quenington. Cosy living room with stone fireplace and wood burning stove. Architect designed interior. Bespoke solid timber kitchen and barbeque outside. Off-street parking. The ancient church, knights gate and River Coln are on the doorstep. Quenington is situated in rolling countryside in the lovely Coln River valley, with Idyllic walks and cycling all around. Two great pubs in walking distance are: 'The Keepers Arms' and 'The New Inn'. Ground Floor Kitchen and dining room: An oak table with seating for six. The kitchen includes an AGA style oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, Sage espresso coffee machine, additional stovetop coffee maker, Dualit toaster, kettle etc. Living room: With a Cotswold stone fireplace, 3 seater sofa and two further lounge chairs. There’s also a smart television with Freeview. Board games are available. Entrance / boot room: Useful for storing coats, boots, bikes and cycling gear. Utility room: With wash basin, washer, dryer, hanging space and cupboards. WC: A handy downstairs toilet First floor Master bedroom: With a kingsize bed, chair and built-in wardrobe Second bedroom: Also with a kingsize bed, chair and built-in wardrobe Third bedroom: With a double bed. The bath has a hand shower however there is no ceiling mounted shower. Hall: Laundry cupboard Outside: Mature front garden, with paved terrace, barbeque and recliner chairs for enjoying a BBQ and a glass of wine in the evening! A large off-street parking space. Extension cable provided for a standard UK plug electric car charging (n.b. this isn't a faster charger, so cars should be left on charge overnight to top up). Local information and recommendations: A short stroll away from the cottage is the 12th century knights gate and St Swithin's Church, built mainly in the late 11th century. Further down, the River Coln marks the edge of the village, with open countryside beyond. Here, The Old Rectory hosts the Fresh Air Sculpture show - a biennial sculpture exhibition usually in June. You can take a beautiful walk along the river to the pretty high street at Fairford. Alternatively, turn around and head back in the other direction, northwest through the Quenington to reach the Keepers Arms village pub for good food and drinks. For longer walks, there are lovely cross country routes starting from outside the cottage, at the end of Victoria Road. Also from Victoria Road you can walk north through fields toward Coln St Aldwyns. You could also start from the River Coln between Quenington and Coln St Aldwyns for a beautiful walk to Bibury and back. There are maps and guide books in our entrance porch. Quenington is from the Old English 'Cwenenatun' meaning women's settlement. The word 'Queen' has the same derivation!
