My kids and I spent a week in Qingdao and stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. It turned out to be a lovely getaway. The room was clean, well-stocked with everything we needed, and offered a stunning ocean view—plus, we were treated to fireworks every evening right from our window, which was a magical touch.
Breakfast was available every morning with a good range of options; we appreciated the variety. Room service was a hit with the kids—they couldn’t get enough of the spaghetti bolognaise and popcorn chicken! I personally enjoyed the club sandwich and the beef noodles.
We devoted an entire day to the water park, where the kids had an absolute blast. Although some parts of it could use renovation, it didn’t dampen our fun.
One of our favorite activities was cruising around the resort on four-wheel e-bikes—it felt like a private adventure since much of the area was quiet and fairly abandoned, but that added a special charm.
The beach is also just across the road, so you can go play in the sand at any time, there are also some men who offer horse and jet ski rides right on the beach. The beach also isn’t too crowded.
The only drawback was the resort’s location. It’s quite far from most of Qingdao’s main attractions, so every excursion required at least an hour-long Didi ride. Still, the experience was well worth it, and we genuinely enjoyed our stay. We’d absolutely return again.

Facilities are a bit worn-out, with pools not fully functional. Room was clean, also in need of renovation. Staff was friendly, but hardly spoke English. Great deal for hot springs, included in the stay, with direct access from the hotel. Beach access was under renovation, and the sand was full of seaweed. All restaurants were open, affordable with delicious food, specially the Japanese restaurant.

Review of Crowne Plaza Qingdao Haiwan (Qingdao Hai Quan Wan Huang Guan Jia Ri Du Jia Jiu Dian)
★☆☆☆☆ 1/5 – Worst Vacation Experience, Left After One Night
We had booked a several night stay in June 2025 at Crowne Plaza Qingdao Haiwan, but the conditions were so terrible that we had to change hotels after just one night.
Unacceptable Problems:
❌ Shockingly Dated Property – The hotel is extremely run-down, with visible mold covering walls in hallways and our room. The musty smell gave us headaches.
❌ False Advertising of Amenities
The beach had zero facilities – no umbrellas, loungers.
❌ Health Hazards – Our bathroom had black mold around the shower.
Final Verdict:
We paid premium prices but got dirty, broken facilities instead of a vacation. The front desk just shrugged when we complained.

A great hotel for relaxation! Comfortable and clean rooms with wonderful sea views. Pleasant staff, special thanks to aLina for helping. The breakfast is varied, there are restaurants and many other entertainment options. The hot springs on the street were especially appreciated

We believed the 9.1 review on trip.com and great description of the hotel but our experience did not match our expectations. The hotel is said to be located near the metro station but you would have to walk almost 10 minutes to get to a bus stop and take a bus that would take you to the metro station. The hotel does not offer any shuttle bus or services to take you to the nearest stations and just tells you to take care of it by yourself. The room itself had a great view of the beach and was on the cleaner side but does not match the expectations from a 5 star hotel at all and as we entered the indoor pool we could see that the walls of the changing room had big molds. The hotel claims to offer various amenities but many of them are not available. The outdoor pool was not available upon arrival which was due to bad weather and understandable but the indoor pool was not that clean and they claim to have a supermarket which is not true and many other amenities did not match the description. The breakfast costs 112 CNY per person but the hall lacked cleaning personals and the food remains on tables were not being cleaned for a good amount of time and what fell on the floor was getting stepped on. The japanese restaurant was clean and the taste was also good but the beer bar serves dishes that do not match the description on the menu.
