Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge

What a wonderful stay, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner were all excellent. Compliments to the chef for doing such an amazing job. Our room was great and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you.

Modern and stylish lodges, well presented. The bed was comfortable and the blanket was warm. There was a spare, although the wicker chest it was contained in was the only horizontal surface that could be used as a suitcase stand, so one would need to remove the case to open it. The basin taps are operated by pushing, which provides about a minute's worth of water before turning off. So if you only need say a half glass of water, a lot is wasted. But there were no glasses, or cups. No wardrobe; just a few coathangers. There was no wifi, not even at the restaurant. (Yes, it's remote, but other remote places accomplish this.) No aircon, just a pedestal fan. The multiple louvred windows were all insect screened, and enabled a choice of privacy or ventilation, but not both at once. The gaps in the floorboards were sealed in the main room, but not the bathroom. Some were 3mm, big enough for enterprising mozzies and creepy crawlies to get through, so I kept the bathroom door shut. Lighting was good, but there was no heating. (Early mornings can be very chilly mid-year.) I thought the place was very clean until I discovered a good deal of dust on the base of the pedestal fan (see image). Dinner and breakfast buffets were pretty good. I'd have liked some raw muesli for breakfast rather than the highly processed, sugar-laden stuff.

From the minute we arrived the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The manager Tracy was exceptionally helpful as was assistant manager Jo. The accommodation and food was first class and the relaxing time at the Bungles Bar with other guests was thoroughly enjoyable. We did a whole day tour that included cathedral gorge and echidna Chasm which was unforgettable. Our tour guide Matt was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. He looked after our every need. What a wonderful experience we had in a beautiful world heritage site.

The road in to Purnululu is 4wd only, this makes it more difficult to access but also so worth your time. the wonderful staff at the visitor centre will help you plan your time and advise which walk to tackle. Our overnight stay at Savannah Lodge was superb. Welcomed by Camille we went for dinner and were thoroughly spoiled by the talented Lyn and her team.

We had an absolutely fantastic two day stay at Savannah Lodge. The staff were universally friendly, helpful and considerate, often giving up their own personal time to make you feel special. We were always treated like VIPs. The guides for the walks were knowledgeable and keen to cater for the needs of everyone in the group, again going the extra mile to ensure we had the best time ever. Accommodation is clean and comfortable, and the food excellent, especially given the remoteness of the lodge. Environmental consciousness doesn't have to be Spartan. Top work, guys n dolls.

Great facilities given the remote location & accessibility. Very nice meals, storage of red wine needs attention due to warm climate plus body lotion in cabins to reduce wastage (rancid from afternoon heat buildup). ‘Coffee machine issues’ need to be managed better during periods of full capacity.
