La Casa Encantada is a low key hostel, located in the centre of Purmamarca. The hostel offers simple rooms with ensuite bathrooms. The newer rooms cost 50% more. Wi-Fi is weak. Service is friendly but don’t expect much English. The town is very popular with tourists. As a consequence accommodations are overpriced. La Casa Encantada has, relative to its quality, a reasonable pricing. Our simple furnished room had an OK double bed, open wardrobe and ceiling fan. We had a separate small bathroom with a toilet, wash basin, bidet and shower. All was clean. The windows can be opened but don’t have mosquito screens. At 2,200m and without any cattle nearby, screens most likely aren’t necessary. The buffet continental breakfast is modest, but OK: toast & dry rolls, butter & marmalade, canned fruit salad, orange juice, coffee & tea. We found La Casa Encantada a practical hostel, but nothing special. Good for one night.
