Very nice property, well located and with a very interesting setting. Room was ok, a bit small, but nice, clean and with a nice bed, allowing for a good night sleep. Staff was friendly. Hotel clearly gives a lot of importance to the common areas like lobby and pool area. In terms of equipment, the issue we found was that in the room there was only one power socket....meaning that we couldn't charge our phones at the same time. This is really substandard in current times when everyone travels with a few devices like phone, airpods, ipad, etc. Now, the real bad thing: when checking out, the lady at reception called someone to go and check the room. So, they check every room when guests are checking out, what delays the departure process. Very old-fashioned process. I can live with it though, but not ideal. The HORRENDOUS part: when I checked-in, the guy at reception asked for my credit card for the guarantee. I did give my card, because this is normal procedure in every hotel. Issue was that when checking out, the lady at reception gave me a photocopy of my card. I asked what was it about and she said that was the guarantee. I told her that I thought that they were going to swipe the card and make a hold, like every hotel does. I told her that making a photocopy of my card WITHOUT MY CONSENT was really bad. I told her that this was AGAINST ALL RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS in terms of data privacy, information safeguarding and fraud prevention. I was really SHOCKED. I also was more shocked when I asked how can I know that they didn't make a few copies of my card and someone was walking around Punta del Este shopping with my card. She was surprised, didn't know what to say. The cherry on top of the cake was that she told me that if this happens, I will have to call the call and they will see how to arrange the problem. As can be seen on my profile, I stayed in more than 250 top/high end hotels all over the world and something like this NEVER happened to me. I found it extremely reckless, unprofessional, old-fashioned and irresponsible. I'm an extremely experienced traveller and something like this would potentially keep many conscious guests away of the hotel. As said, hotel was. nice and we had a good stay, but I wouldn't stay here again if they don't change this procedure and adjust themselves to the way hotels work all over the world. Not a good thing if they target high-end guests. I strongly recommend hotel to review this.
