Rawa Island Resort

We have been here for 5 days and enjoyed our time. On Rawa Island there are two resorts - on small resort and Rawa Island Resort, which is the main Resort. As the Island is very small, everything feels very familiar. The staff is very friendly and service orientated. The food is good. The conditions of the bungalows, the main terraces, the slide etc are improbable - everything needs to be renovated. It seems, that they did not invest any money in renovation since corona time. On the other hand side, they currently build up new water front bungalows. Unfortunately they did not tell us within booking, that there is a construction area directly next to our hill side bungalow. But in general, a nice little paradise to stay. Thank you to the whole team ♥️

The resort room is outdated and poorly maintained, with visible mold on the bathroom walls and door. Cleanliness was below expectations. The meals were very basic, with no coffee machine coffee and no juices or cordials offered during dinner and lunch. At RM1,500 per night inclusive of three meals per day, the price is not justified by the level of service and quality provided.

My friend and I stayed at Rawa island and were greeted with the nicest staff members ever. They made our trip - without them we would be left saddened. We have been coming to Rawa island for 12 years ( the same time some of the staff members have also been here) and they remembered us. Labu Chee who also goes by labubu is the most personable, nicest person ever. Pure kindness out of his pure heart. He brings life to this island. Please make sure when you come to say hi to Labu - have a convo with him and you’ll see just how amazing he is. My friend and I would sit by the bar for hours talking to him. His friends Albert, Carlos and Bella are also super nice and gave us an amazing homemade chocolate cake which was delicious. With much love. Lucy and Jamie

Our stay at Rawa Island Resort was nothing short of magical! The crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand, and lush surroundings made it a true tropical paradise. The resort itself is stunning, with comfortable accommodations and plenty of activities. Kudos to the chef, we were blown away by the variety and quality of the meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner were never repeated, and each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. From local specialities to international favourites, every meal was a delightful surprise. Specially mentioned Carlos and Hanim, who elevate Rawa Island Resort from great to extraordinary. We can't wait to return—thanks to them, we left with not just memories, but new friends.

Pulau Rawa is a stunning private island off Johor, perfect for a short getaway. The beach is powdery white, the sea is turquoise, and the coral reefs are just a few steps from the shore — great for snorkeling and spotting colorful fish. The vibe is quiet and laid-back, ideal if you want to disconnect. Accommodation and food are basic but decent — don’t expect luxury, it’s more of a rustic island escape. The highlight is definitely the natural beauty: the sunrise, sunset, and starry skies are unforgettable. Getting there requires a short boat ride from Mersing, and the journey itself feels like part of the adventure. Best for couples, families, or anyone looking for a peaceful retreat close to nature.

Phenomenal. We had an excellent time. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating right from the get go. It has "eco-resort" vibes as it's an island in the center of a marine park so don't expect Grand Hyatt type service but that having been said we were excessively comfortable. The resort consists mostly of cabanas, as far as we are aware they all have AC in the bedrooms. Windows and doors had no screens which isn't a big deal if remained shut. The beds were comfortable. The cabanas spacious. Amenities were lacking like no coffee, TV or wifi (at least in our Cabana, wifi in lobby and at bar was solid) but we didn't care as the primary purpose of the resort was to unplug and spend time on the beach. There's a bar and restaurant. All meals are served buffet style, all food is freshly made for each meal. There's enough options that even the pickiest of eaters will find a couple of things suitable. We aren't picky but we know good food and we tended to eat more than half the options at each meal. The bar was good to relax at, prices are reasonable for a resort and the bartender was fun to talk to. The beach was stunning and pristine. The water was crystal clear and there was an absurd amount of fish. Some great snorkeling and I'm sure great diving. While snorkeling I spotted three sharks one of which was the size of a pitbull. From the beach you can see small sharks feeding on minnows. Don't worry though these aren't the type of sharks that bite. We used the spa twice during our trip. Strongly recommended. All in all I would return again. This trip was my best friend and I but I think next time I'd bring my family.
