Wivc Casa de la Playa

We spent a week at Casa de la Playa in May as an Interval exchange week. We live in the Marina part time and stayed as a nice change of scenery. The staff working at the property were all very nice and welcoming.The pool was a good size for a small property and there was a small jacuzzi that they drained and cleaned daily.I liked the system they had for the elevator it only opened for us on our floor with a code which made us feel very safe. Our unit on the third floor while a little dated was nice and clean with lots of storage .It had a small balcony with an ocean front view where we enjoyed a few great sunsets. We spent two days on the beach in front of the property with chairs and umbrellas provided by the front desk.We enjoyed walking down to the Malecon a few days and nights lots of great food!! We had dinner at El Barracuda’s the first night and ended up going back the last night and is just a block away. I would definitely recommend

First let me say that the staff, while small, rates a ten and the location of the “resort” – in El Centro, right on Playa Camarones (shrimp beach), and about four blocks from the Malecon -- is at least a nine. A decent grocery store (Lay’s) is about two blocks away and the lack of timeshare salespersons was a pleasant plus. There are many places to catch a bite to eat nearby, although the higher rated restaurants are a good walk away. Casa de la Playa is tiny – only three one bedroom and four two bedroom units, all of which overlook Playa Camarones and the bay. The views of the sunsets were outstanding. I stayed in a two bedroom, two bathroom unit (4A) at Casa de la Playa the week of April 9 to 16, 2022 – a Spring Break weekend and Playa Camarones was quite busy. There was an elevator with glass siding that looked out on the pool, Playa Camarones, and bay. The unit had a narrow, but full length, balcony overlooking the pool/spa area, Playa Camarones, and the bay. It had two folding chairs and a small side table. I most stood up when using the balcony.The bedrooms were on the small side, had irregular wall angles, and the bathrooms were very tiny. Both bathrooms had a small stand alone sink, a cramped toilet, and a small tiled shower. They were clean and functional, although the floor tiles in the showers of both bathrooms had some discoloring. The master bedroom had a Mexican-firm queen bed while the second bedroom had two single beds. Both bedrooms had a single dresser, adequate closet space, and a small safe. One issue with the bathroom was that only once was the water warm enough to comfortably shower. Other than the one time, even with only the hot water turned on, the water temperature was tap water cool. The shower stall was rather small, but I was able to use without banging my elbows. The unit had a small combined kitchen/dining/living room with an excellent view of Playa Camarones and the bay. The kitchen area had little counter space for food preparation and near zero room for food storage. The small gas oven had four burners, but they were close enough together that I could only fit a frying pan and one other pot on the stove top at the same time. There also was a microwave for cooking. There is a BBQ in the pool area that I used all but two days I was there. It was kept clean, functioned well, and I was always the only one using it when I did my cooking. The refridgerator was small, but adequate for my usage, and they included a large bottle of water, which was a nice touch. It did not have an ice maker, but the freezer came with four ice cube trays.There were plenty of pots and pans and implements for cooking, about enough plates and silver ware for eight, a blender, a coffee maker, tea kettle, etc. The unit lacked a dishwasher or clothes washer and dryer. The unit did have modern and well functioning air conditioners in each bedroom and in the kitchen/dining/living room. The round dining room table came with five padded chairs in go
