Cabinas Jimenez

Our expectations were exceeded at this hotel. We really liked using the free kayaks and just kayaking in the mangroves whenever we wanted. Everything is walkable. And the air conditioning is a godsend. We really liked sitting on the patio and having coffee in the morning and looking at the sun come out over the bay. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The people were very nice and helped us with little tips and hints about traveling around the area.

Four of us stayed four nights at Cabinas Jimenez. This was one of my favorite hotels and spots in Costa Rica. We had the Rancho Downstairs room. It was clean, comfortable, king bed and has an outside kitchen. Great room and view. Gabby and Anne are wonderful hosts and will help you with any needs. John the owner is the "THE GUY" in Puerto Jimenez. Do not miss his boat tour it is awesome. Thank you John, Anne and Gabby for a wonderful stay. I highly recommend Cabinas Jimenez and Puerto Jimenez if you are going to Costa Rica.

Cabinas Jimenez is a great place to stay and provide adventure experiences. Our unit included an outdoor kitchen/sitting area that was great for viewing the ocean harbor looking eastward which provided spectacular sunrises. We used their fishing trip, whale/dolphin watching and kayaking experiences. The people were exceedingly pleasant and I felt that in my 10 days there I truly got to know them, and their dogs. The location is prime as well because it’s at the end of the main street, close enough for easy access but not within the main traffic area. The owner John is directly involved in all the activities and always takes the extra effort to insure you have a pleasant stay.

I felt like I was part of the family. While staying at Cabinas Jimenez I went fishing, birding, whale watching, biking, paddle boarding, hiking and read a couple of books. On my first day I saw a whale from my room. The next day I went paddle boarding from Cabinas and saw a whale and a baby. The next day I followed seven whales across the gulf on my paddle board! Scarlet Macaws and toucans are easy to find, not to mention sea turtles and dolphins. This is just an unbelievable place! The staff don't feel like staff, they feel like friends. The owner and the rest of the team do whatever they can to make sure you are having a pleasant experience. There is a million dollar view from the room. The room is very clean and well stocked with everything I needed to make my own meals. The boat tour from Cabinas was unmatched with anything I have ever done on the water. It is very convenient to walk or bike to town including a well stocked grocery store and many restaurants. This was such a wonderful experience it will be so hard to leave. The good news is I am sure to come back!

We stayed there for 4 nights at the beginning of January. Rooms are small but clean comfortable. The pool was tiny and crowded, we didn't use it. We didn't use the outdoor kitchen either, no kitchen in the room. There might be in the private cabins, better located and much better but at extra cost. Staff is friendly but lack of good directions, their directions to the falls of Matapalo were very vague, we had hard time following the hand made maps available. don't follow them. Puerto Jimenez is a great place, lots of things to do around and the beaches are superb. They can arrange all kind of tours. It is a short walk to tow, many options for eating. One more good thing was the free use of the Kayaks in Golfo Dulce and bicycles. Free parking in the front of the resort. Over all a good stay.

My wife and I were visiting the Osa Peninsula for the first time to scout out a place to stay for our family. We booked several nights here in order to look for other places to stay and because the service and the accommodations were so great, we have decided to bring our family back to this establishment rather than going anywhere else. Annie is a wonderful host and any needs we had were addressed immediately and all appliances worked and it was clean and it was just great. The kayaks, paddle boards and bikes were in good working order and easily accessible. We can’t wait to return next summer.
