Apartamentos Orly Club Arena Dorada

Great location, on middle of strip, up side road, mainly very quiet in whole complex. Room ok, bit dated, fairly clean. (I’m very very fussy) beds comfy and clean. Good shower . Ok for kitchen facilities. No air con but ceiling fans with remote charge. Pool nice but cold. Lots of beds, but some still reserve unfortunately. No lounger at apartment just table and chairs on balconies. Pool bar good, food available all day. Staff nice.

We flew down for a last minute week away. I had emailed Arena Dorada requesting C block and upon check in handed the keys to C 12. 1 br apartment on ground floor next to the pool, and we had a sea view Apartments very clean and bright, bed comfortable, great shower. Pool is absolutely freezing, but that's standard for Lanzarote in winter. Plenty of sun loungers so no sunbed wars. Only 3 nights and we did get a full clean, and not a cockroach in sight. Location is perfect , 1 street behind the main strip in Puerto del Carmen, everything right on doorstep. I would definitely stay here again especially if was lucky enough to get the same apartment

We have been to PDC over 20 times and have stayed in several different places around the town. we decided to give this place a try for a couple of reasons - the location and the price. After reading some of the recent reviews about unhelpful staff, cockroaches, dirty sunbeds and various other things we were a bit worried but spend most of our days out and about anyway so thought we would see what it was like for ourselves. First thing was getting there and the room wasn't ready but we were earlier than the stated 3pm check in so that wasn't a problem, the reception staff were very friendly and pleasant and asked us to come back a bit later and when we got back everything was ready and check in was easy and straight forward. We were given room B16 which was quite a big apartment and on first glance looked reasonably clean. There was a kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, 2 ring hob so you could make your self something to eat if you wanted to. A decent size balcony which got the sun most of the day but not much of a view as it is behind the shops and restaurants on the strip. Looking closer during the week you can see where the room is dated and a bit rough round the edges especially the shower but the cleaners came in everyday and did what they could but it would benefit from a deep clean. We had the bedding changed once and the towels 3 changed 3 times in the week we were there. The pool area was OK with plenty of sun beds and no need to worry about saving one with a towel like in some places and while we were there the maintenance man was pressure washing all the sun beds so if any were dirty they shouldn't be now for a while. We didn't go in the pool and didn't see anyone in it at all but that is the same in nearly every place we have stayed in PDC as they are usually freezing cold at this time of year. All the area around the complex and gardens were very clean and tidy and well looked after Overall we were happy with the location and the staff were friendly and helpful but we wouldn't stay here again unless the rooms had a refurb and the shower rooms got updated. I know it is relatively cheap compared to some other places but you can find better.

Arrived on the 4th January, for 10 days, we went into our apartment B12. first impression, average not very clean, then we went into the bathroom and after flushing the toilet it started flooding, reported to reception and 2 workman came around, we were starving so we didn't unpack (in case we had to be moved) went out to grab something to eat, and left them to it, when we came back it looked like a new toilet had been fitted. when we went to bed there was no quilt covers on the quilts, reception had closed at 8pm so we couldn't report it, we also had to kill a couple of big black beetles, so 1st impression was not so good. The next day the cleaner came and the whole place was thoroughly cleaned and clean bedding on (I believe now that this apartment had not been made ready for us when we arrived) I understand mistakes can happen. no cleaner the next day, then a young cleaner came on the 8th and she emptied the bins only. 9th no cleaner, 10th the same cleaner came as on the 5th and room was immaculate when we got back. The complex is ideally located, the poolside is very relaxing and plays good relaxing music, the food and drink is good and reasonably priced. The waiter is friendly and efficient. The apartments are lovely and spacious but I think for peace of mind, I would buy a bottle of bleach and rubber gloves and keep the place clean yourself. because 3 days out of 10 is not good enough to keep the bugs away. Always get a safe which is 2 Euros per day with 5 euros deposit. There are loads of restaurants to choose from many of them, people are queuing to get a seat, Asian WOK is good, Bucanneers has lovely homemade English food and they also play bingo on a Mon, Wed & Friday. The only pub with a pool table was Sunset beach and they do a music quiz at night which is fun. and there are loads of places to watch football.

Was there over Xmas and new year 3rd and last time , reception and cleaning staff spot on , keep rooms in good order,but this year it was invasion, on the cockroach room C7, drains kicking up a whiff and stinking room stench of rubbish in st (not hotels fault block B cop it) hotel has let it's standards slip all round, certainly not worth this year's price increase,hence booked elsewhere!
