Hotel Marquesa

Really liked this hotel, comfy beds, nice room, (although the air con could do with a tweak) but it was hot weather . The view from the balcony overlooking the church and square was so nice, and the vista beyond was pretty impressive ,also,the bells were great, didn't bother us at all. Staff were really nice,had a warm welcome despite it being a 3 am arrival. Have booked the Marquesa to return in March 2025, was our first time visiting Puerto de la Cruz and already looking forward to return.

Me and my partner stayed here 10th to 17th Sept, absolutely beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable, all staff very polite friendly and helpful, good selection at breakfast and good value meals and drinks, had a lovely stay and thank you to all the staff! Xx

The hotel is perfect it exceeded our expectations and we felt so welcomed. The bells would be the only downside sometimes ringing for 5 mins straight but it’s not that big of a deal tbh. We had breakfast included and it was a range of cooked, cereal, bread, meats and cheeses and yogurt too, nothing to complain about. The rooms were clean and comfortable the beds comfy too. We loved our balcony it was perfect. Apart from the last hour of our stay, where we upset the receptionist with miss communication and poor awareness, were very sorry about that! It was a genuine mistake. apart from that we loved it! thank you so much.

We had the most wonderful week staying at Marquesa. We stayed half board and found the food to be delicious, plentiful, varied and fresh, we thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The only thing which might have been useful would be if the dishes were labelled in some way but we got used to playing ‘guess the dish’ as the week went on! The hotel foyer is beautiful, so full of character. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful at all times, the room was spacious and airy with a fantastic view. The whole hotel was immaculate and the housekeeping was great too. The location is superb and yes the church bells chime regularly but it’s quite lovely, and they do stop between 11pm and 7am so it doesn’t actually disturb sleep. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again or to recommend. Thank you to all the staff for your hospitality and welcome.

Terrible rooms, moldy and hot. First I got a room in the basement without any ventilation. The window was out to the common area and didn’t felt safe to have open in the night. The towels was dirty and the bedsheets had stains. The food was ok, but boring. Missed some vegetables for breakfast. The plates were greasy and some of the cups were dirty.

This hotel is in a brilliant location value for money..I will start with the transfer 1 and a half hours transfer from the airport other people I heard it took 3 hours the coach drops you off at the bank short walk 1 minute to marquesa as it is a pedestrianised area..the church bells you forget them after a while it is true every 15 minutes from 07.00 till 23.00 hours also mass at 19.00 the bells start at 18.50 hours pretty noisy..the hotel I can only say the room I stayed in was in the new building a family room just me and my husband over looked the dining room and mountains noisy from 7ish you need earplugs amazing shower lovely room small sofa 3 single beds plenty of wardrobe space..the food luke warm there is a microwave which I used the breakfast is spanish bacon and sausage baked beans eggs you can have a omelette just ask fruit pastries are beautiful cereals juice..I took my own insulatated cups and a kettle as there isn't one in the room..hairdryer is in the bathroom if you need one which is powerful take your own.. they provide sachets of shampoo conditioner and showered every day our cleaner cleaned our room each day and fresh towels..the staff Jesus is amazing knows the resort very well very good English speaking and other languages..we sometimes ate our evening meal in the hotel for 9 euros as much as u want to eat..restaurants in puerto I loved the riviera in charco Square lovely menu del dia..the small Spanish restaurants are worth ago I visited meson los gamelos just up from charco Square up the little hill we waited 25 mins in the queue go there Hungry huge portions absolutely worth every penny very canarian..if u are looking to only have a drink go to fraggata bar at the harbour amazing value for money..the staff at the marquesa are helpful as I said Jesus..go to loro parque on the land train get your tickets before you go as they ask for them wonderful place worth every penny..don't come to hotel marquesa thinking its a 5 star hotel it's a 3 star I love the hotel there are german austrian and lots of other nationalities here spoke to lots of them ..sit outside for a drink and food at the hotel amazing steak best I've had..the swimming pool is on the roof small but fine sun loungers and umbrellas too..I wasn't dissapointed as I go to 3 star and sometimes 2 star hotels..give it a go find out for your self I am on my last 2 days now I go home on Tuesday spent 3 weeks here..hope you enjoy it as much as me..

The hotel Is lovely. The position is perfect. The cleaners are great. The reception staff helpful. The roof pool is small but peaceful. Apart from the clock that goes off every 15 minutes. I had a lovely room at the back of the hotel where the clock couldn't be heard, overlooking the sea. Would definitely recommend the back of the hotel. There are a couple of lifts but the stairs are not too steep but are very poorly lit. I particulary enjoyed having a beer after dinner at the front of the hotel and people watching while a very calming guitarist and singer serenaded you. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would come back but would eat there again. I stayed bed breakfast and evening meal and the restaurant wasn't a restaurant it was like a school canteen. It's the worst I've ever come across. I think the canteen and kitchen staff should be taken to a hotel restaurant so they can see how it should be done. I was sure that there was a competition between staff who could make the loudest noise while collecting cutlery and crockery. They seemed to enjoy throwing it into the collection trolly so as to disturb as many diners as possible. There was no ambiance as it was like being underground in the dimmest darkest hole with no windows except one which had a net curtain there trying to hide a dirty building site outside it. The way it was set out was all wrong. E.g. the bread wasn't near the toaster and the toaster was on the opposite side of the room to the butter and spread so people were walking around backwards and forwards looking for stuff. There was cereal that wasn't near the milk. All the while you was listening to crash bang from the competitive canteen staff clearing up. The food was always cold so after the first couple of evenings I didn't bother trying it first I just put it straight into the microwave. In the evening they covered the juice machine and coffee machine with a sheet so forcing you to pay for water. It didn't work with me though, I brought my own down from my room. The canteen staff was also always miserable, I can only summise that they wasn't happy at work or the headache they must constantly suffer from the clashing and crashing got to them. A Lovely hotel, no gym, I recommend a room at the back with a sea view and stear clear of the school canteen and you'll have a lovely time.

The hotel is in a perfect spot with everything on the doorstep. They keep the hotel rooms clean and whilst modest you have most things you need. A kettle and a fridge would be useful but you can live without. As a solo tourist it had everything I needed all within walking distance. Food is basic but again it is all you need breakfast fills you up for the day. I never tend to go to the same place again however if I were to this would be the place to come back to. Not overrun by tourists and quiet empty beaches.

My time at the Marquesa sadly spoiled due to staff allowing a group of 12+ to continue chatting and laughing outside my room until the early hours. Other negatives include poor air con that just moves around hot air, dangerous windows certainly on the 5th floor rooms by the pool and poor quality food if your half board. Also to note is that some of the balcony rooms like mine, have no balcony, instead a table and chairs it’s outside the door on the terrace however these are quickly moved by other guests. For such a beautiful old hotel it’s being let down by some of its staff and a lack of modernisation.
