While the property is new and in a good location, and the staff friendly, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. There was an overall lack of service (staff was friendly but couldn’t actually help with much) and lack of adequate resolution to spend the amount of $/points this hotel required. We arrived to no AC in our room. It took most of our day and they could not resolve the problem so we had to demand resolution and they finally got a manager involved. The only resolution was to change rooms. This required packing everything up and switching rooms - to a lower floor with a lesser view. We went to the cold “hot tub” - which was having problems, and met 2 guests who also told us “the AC sucks!”. We had no AC again on our last full day and night. It wasn’t fun to try to sleep when it was 75 degrees in the room. When we called the front desk, they sent someone who said they’d be back in 5 minutes and never returned. I’ve never been at a property that just ignores a problem. The hotel has AWFUL internet. Sometimes it works and sometimes not, most often not. It will not be fast enough to download photos or do anything of substance. The rooms are not well designed. For instance, the toilet has a glass door and open wooden decor between it and the sink so if you want to use the toilet and someone else wants to use the washroom, there is no privacy. The storage is wonky - no hooks in the room to hang things, very few hangers in the closet and a cabinet for clothes with shelves, not drawers that is difficult to open. The menu pricing at the restaurant was not what we were charged (for example, I ordered a 8.50 drink on the menu and we were charged 11.50 plus taxes making it a 13.50 drink - we didn’t complain as it seemed like it would require more time and effort than it was worth). We booked a 360 tour based on the hotel recommendation (Galapagos EcoFishing). The tour was okay, but not great and our guide was awful. We paid more than others did and are disappointed in the recommendation. We wish we would have booked another company. Finally, if you book here on points (as a platinum IHG member), you will not receive the breakfast they offer to other guests for free. I really wanted to love this hotel but it leaves me feeling sad that I wasted so many points when I could have supported a locally owned hotel that likely would have provided better service at a lower price.
