Hotel le Dune Piscinas

I had seen some negative reviews of the hotel, but had also seen it on a couple of best lists, so still wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, I left pretty disappointed. It's a journey to reach the hotel, but it's in a beautiful and unique location right on the beach. I received a room upgrade which was appreciated, and the room was very nice. However, the acoustics of the hotel are terrible, so it was very loud in the room both from outside and above. To get out to the beach, you have to walk through the nice bar downstairs, and the pool is tucked away on the other side facing the parking lot, so you have to walk back through the bar and reception to reach that, which seemed like an odd setup. You are assigned a beach chair based on your room number, which in theory is a good plan, but when I arrived later in the afternoon there were numerous chairs open and I instead had to sit a foot away from multiple couples because of my assigned chair. I was attacked by gnats as soon as I sat down, so didn't make it long out there anyway. My experience at the bar was the highlight- the bartenders were friendly and attentive, and my drink/aperitif was great. However, dinner was a disaster. When I arrived, there was no one there doing the seating so I had to wander around and try to talk to three different people before I located the hostess. I had booked for one, told her it was for one, and she still felt the need to say, "So you are alone?" When I was seated, I was not given a drink or wine list, and had to ask numerous times to receive one. No one seemed to actually be assigned a waiter to give a greeting or introduction or ask questions; instead, as I was trying to get a drink, a man just came over and asked what I wanted. I explained I was still trying to get a wine list and had not decided yet. When he came back later, I tried to ask him for some advice since I didn't have a waiter- I explained I was between the gnocchi and the linguine with clams. His response was that if I wanted fish to get the linguine- super helpful. I ordered the select three cheeses from the trolley, but rather than actually being able to select, a man just dropped off three with some spreads. When I tried to ask about making the selections, I thought he was having difficulty understanding me but instead he was just being rude and said they are pre-selected. If that is true, the menu should be clearer but at the very least they should be telling me what the cheeses and spreads are rather than just dropping them. My pasta came out before my starter had, so I again had to talk to multiple people to discover that my starter had not been ordered. I told the man what I had ordered, but then was brought out essentially a caprese salad, which was not even on the menu. I had to try and flag people down again to figure out what happened. To his credit, he took the item off my check, and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to give me what he thought I wanted, but

This hotel is amazing with a great mining history. The lodging is surrounded by sand dunes, and the sea. An extremely relaxing location. Be prepared for a rough last 10 km of the drive. I would not recommend trying to go there in the dark. Once you get there, plan on staying and enjoying yourself. This was the perfect place to end our two week vacation in Sardinia.

The location is absolutely gorgeous with beautiful wild dunes and amazing sunsets, but it seems like the hotel is riding on that alone to justify the price. There are many superficial "luxury" features, but the substance, and the details, are way off. So much is wrong, starting with the pervasive sewer smell which is, apparently, something that can not be fixed. The rooms are small, ours was missing robes and do-not-disturb tags (the housekeeper barged in because she could not see the do-not-disturb light in the sun). Lots of other little problems in the room like incomprehensible design choices in the placement of light switches, missing basic toiletry amenities, no replacement of beach towels etc. The regular restaurant has a small menu that does not change (although the Maitre was accommodating to dietary requirements). The waitstaff was overwhelmed and literally running into one another and bickering. The upscale restaurant was pretty much what one would expect, also very few menu options. Curious that it is located in between two sides of the other restaurant ensuring constant pass through. It is pretty obvious that the hotel does not attract quality personnel (the housekeeping staff seemed particularly clueless). Few of the staffers seem to be trained, the ones who are responsive and pleasant seem to be new to hospitality and just (to their credit) trying very hard. We found some workarounds with meals at the small beach restaurants just off the hotel premises: basic food but a lot more together and, for us, a lot more fun. We did have massages at the spa and the therapist was very good. We brought all the problems up to the manager who listened politely and suggested various seemingly generous but ultimately odd solutions like a room upgrade to a room that did not face the ocean as we had chosen, etc. All in all we felt there was a huge discrepancy between price and quality and not much concrete plan to improve that ratio. We do travel extensively and understand very well the category this hotel aspires to, it is just not there. As much as we would love to be in the beautiful landscape again, we would not want to stay at this hotel again.

The hotel itself is beautiful and well equipped, comfortable beds. Lovely bar area, and initially a nice welcome.. So far so good but sorry guys this is not 5 star service and for what we paid I expected better. Check in from 14.00? No way - we were welcomed with a glass of wine which was really nice and then shown to the bar and despite promises of a tour of the hotel we were left for nearly two hours before we checked in. No worries as such, as in the end, we decided to find our bags and get changed so we could explore ourselves and visit the beach whilst waiting. An occasional update from reception would have been nice. The restaurant was average but provided constant entertainment as the waiting staff muddled orders, seemed irritated with one another and supplied wrong food. We got wine we hadn't ordered, sparkling instead of still water, eggs Florentine (which wasn't on the menu) instead of eggs benedict, wrong menus, dinner menu for breakfast, next course provided while still eating the first, just to give you an idea of what to expect. Staff may well have been trained in Paris waiter indifference but hey - these are all silly niggling issues but not what is expected at this price. and why do we have to ask for tissues for the bathroom? surely this is normal? The location is gorgeous and its great to be able to walk so far along a sandy beach with very few other people around. A high price to pay for a beach.

Stunning Location Hotel located on a rugged beach surrounded by impressive dunes. The service was fantastic and the food delicious but we left a little underwhelmed. The dining room is devoid of character with very bright lighting and spindly chairs. This does not create a warm and enchanting atmosphere to enjoy dinner. Also the prices for drinks were very steep. 25 € for a martini seemed excessive. Our last night we shared a fish for dinner, it was good but 100€ for a fish that just came out of the sea also felt steep. I usually never remark on prices but feel this hotel took advantage. There are no other dining options as the hotel is very remote. This hotel could provide a 5 star experience but needs to focus more on refining the decor and the service ( no service at the beach)

Absolutely magical place with very attentive and friendly staff. If you’re looking to feel like James Bond off the grid before M calls.. this is the spot. First class experience.
