Initially, I thought to give a not so good rating to keep this gem of a place hidden. But it would not be honest and fair to Nicolau Pinheiro da Viego and his niece Maria. They were the best hosts anyone could ask for, we felt like we were staying at a family member's house. They were warm, hospitable and welcoming. The place has only seven rooms and is an oasis hidden behind the metal gate, modern and comfortable located in village of Provesende which is quiet and laid back with wonderful views and only a short drive thru the valley from Pinhao. Casa do Santo would be the place we can call home whenever we visit Douro Valley again.

It was such a wonderful stay, great food, wonderful wine, exceptional host. Rooms very comfortable and relaxing. I love the balcony off our bedroom, just peaceful looking out into the vineyard. I would highly recommend this amazing place. Thank you

Couldn't be better! Maria, the owner is brilliant. Atention to detail and care about guests needs in a proactive way. Got the best feedback from my guests ( I own a traveling agency), the sad that will return to POrtugal and will ask me for the same hotel.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay here! The location is fabulous - beautiful views overlooking the valley, and Provesende is an authentic, un-touristy village with a great local bar. Isabel and Nicolau are incredibly welcoming, friendly hosts who were really helpful in arranging anything we wanted to do. Would highly recommend!

Lovely site with a gorgeous overview of the Duoro Valley. Modern clean rooms. Maria and her mother were gracious and helpful. The pool and outdoor seating were ideal resting spots after touring the valley. Would be happy to come back and sorry we had to leave.

A very special place in a very special place. Beautiful, refreshing pool, lovely rooms and breathtaking views. The staff is attentive and welcoming and the village is off the beaten path in the best possible way. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return.

Beautiful little inn tucked away in the hills of the Duoro Valley located in a small magical village. Casa do Santa is serene, quaint and peaceful. Upon arriving we were greeted by Maria who couldn't have been more hospitable. The room had a beautiful view with an enormous door that opened to the outside. My friend and I had a delicious tuna salad out by the pool for dinner. We loved our night here!

What a great place and very dedicated family! We stayed with our family and it was phenomenal, warm, cosy and hospital. The view and swimming pool is stunning. Very recommended place to take some rest and enjoy good food and a good vineyard scenery

Spectacular in every way. Personalized hospitality, large and charming rooms with mesmerizing views of the Douro Valley, generous breakfast, wonderful pool, and parking available. The road from Pinhao is quite windey and high, but it's so worth it. Stay here!
