Hotel garni Möwe am See

March, 2022: First off, for anyone who has not been to Prien before. Everywhere you look it is picture postcard perfect Bavarian Alps. Absolutely amazing scenery everywhere here. The Chiemsee is really big and my favorite was the late afternoon 2.5h hour boat tour near sunset that tours the entire lake. Plenty of places to rent an e-Bike and tour the lake on well groomed trails and its an amazing ride up to Gstadt for some lunch and back. Now, HOW to get to the hotel when you show up: if using Google maps to navigate to the hotel you'll find that its going to take you onto the "people walking zone only" street on the Scharen. Take it slow and easy and around the corner you'll see the hotel, park across the street, or if using an EV, you can park directly next to the front door! you can take the tiny entrance next to the Schiffarht entry next to Hotel Luitpold, but it is a tight fit for any car. Kevin Urbanek and his wife who run the hotel are amazing hosts and can cater to any issues you may have. He was awesome enough to turn on the EV charger for me during our stay and it worked like a champ, best part, he only charges .38 euro a Kwh, a fantastic price vs. the Shell down in Bernau. As other reviewers have mentioned the breakfast is fantastic every morning and is typical Bavarian style breakfast with a few home made items that are always new and always delicious. I am jealous for any of you going during summer, you'll no doubt be able to eat out back on the garden patio and it will be lovely. The rooms are well appointed and we only had a micro shower in room 16, above the garden, so warning for Americans, the showers are TINY. The beds are comfy and there is plenty of closet space and drawers to pack for your stay. We had a small balcony that was great for sitting out in the sun and reading. The service at the hotel was fantastic and Kevin always has great advice for what to see and do in and around Prien and the Alps. The weather was absolutely gorgeous our week here and would definitely stay again. Minor con: like most German small hotels, there is no one to assist you after about 6pm. The front door is locked and everyone's key can unlock it, so DO NOT LOSE your room key. There is no keycard or phone app for the room, its an old school key you turn in the door. If you are used to American hotel chains that are manned at the counter 24/7, this aint that.

Ich war sehr positiv überrascht von den geschmackvoll renovierten Zimmern in diesem familiär geführten Hotel. Die kleinen Badezimmer sind gut durchdacht und bieten alles, was man braucht. Wie auch die Möblierung, die mich zu dieser verdienten positiven Bewertung bewegt hat. Das Frühstücksbuffet bietet eine gute Auswahl und der Gastgeber wie auch die Mitarbeiter sind äußert freundlich.
