Me & MRS Jones

This hotel is exceptional. I have never, ever considered writing a review before but I genuinely believe that the service and quality of our visit needs to be marked. When we first contacted the hotel to make a booking we got talking with Molly and later her mother Brenda, the manager. Both ladies were warm and welcoming. To be honest it felt like we were talking with friends. These ladies enjoy their jobs and want to give their guests an unforgettable experience. That is exactly what my husband and I had....from the moment that we opened our doors to enter our room our mouths hung open in amazement. The huge bed, velvet backing, gigantic bath... Everything oozed luxury and relaxation. We had booked the dinner, bed and breakfast package and when we arrived for dinner we were treated like royalty. As for the food, oh my goodness, I can honestly say that the quality of this food surpassed my hopes. I haven't had such tasty, well cooked food in what feels like forever. Even the breakfast is cooked to order! The Bramble was delicious and the wine choice was extensive. My husband and I had hoped for an enjoyable overnight stay but we made a precious memory that saw us relax in an opulent environment. We were privileged to be greeted and treated as friends. We have already booked our next stay. I cannot recommended Me and Mrs Jones highly enough.

Mother’s Day dinner just awful! Very poor service from start to finish. Staff were overwhelmed by my numbers in the restaurant even though it was not full. We waited a while to be seated for our reserved table and had to remind staff that we had arrived (it appears they forgot about us) even though we were in front of reception desk. Once seated they had the incorrect booking information (child/adult ratio) we waited another 30 mins for our order to be taken and another 30/40 minutes for food to arrive. Prior to food arriving the manager came to our table to advise that there would be no kids or adults goujons available but that a more ‘prestigious’ fried chicken would be provided. With that the food arrived and to say the ‘kids goujons’ was acceptable was disgraceful, it was a grey fried colour/brown meat with a horrible bitter taste. When I alerted the manager to this he was very defensive and condescending saying he found this chicken absolutely beautiful and they were overwhelmed with numbers for Mother’s Day. Very poorly handled by management and put a complete bitter taste for the rest of the meal for everyone. To offer food like this is disgraceful especially to children. We also waited an extremely long time for drinks. The behaviour of waiting staff on the floor was unacceptable with staff walking past our table swearing in front of my children who very clearly heard their language. On reflection we should have walked out. I understand that busy days like this add pressure but this was unacceptable and unfortunately we will not be back.

Afternoon tea was absolutely amazing definitely recommend it. The food was fabulous with a great variety of food and good warm hearty pot of tea ( more than one pot of tea in our case lol) to compliment it even more. Had to take some of it home definitely great value for money love the decor of the place too very classy and elegant. The staff were very friendly and attentive made mum and myself feel very welcome and relaxed and a special mention to Brenda who made our visit that extra special massive thank you goes to her. We will be back for afternoon tea again such a great experience!
