Portree Independent Hostel

My time at the hostel was 2nd to none what made it festival was Javin he really looked after me. He was the host with the most. Ashley was also very hospitable. Looking forward to visiting again. There is also great cities and plenty of space. They also have dry and clean laundry machines.

This hostel has changed hands since I was last here 5 years ago. The family running it are clearly doing fine - shame that there was a vibe of lacking in a little confidence checking us in! After that, communication was absolutely fine - able to check things with them, and a little "have a nice evening" as we went out for a wander after eating. If nobody was at reception during opening times, we could always find one of the staff - usually in the (huge, well equipped) self cater kitchen which we enjoyed using for breakfast/tea. We were in a 10 bed mixed gender dorm on the lower ground floor - decent amount of space for all 10 of us to move around, comfy bunks, opening a window provided adequate ventilation in warm days, there were enough toilets and showers on that floor for our dorm and the 2 other large dorms on that floor. Hostel is right in the middle of Portree, max. 2 minutes walk to local shops and the bus station.

Located right at the heart of small town of Portree, I had a very comfortable stay at this hostel. Because of the pandemic, I had to self check-in but when I needed some help, staff came in and heeded to my request of using a security locker. Easily one of the friendliest staffs I had a chat with. Only feedback I've is to improve their heaters, the rooms were quite cold in the winter. Overall I highly recommend this hostel for a stay at Portree.

This was my first hostel stay since yputh hostelling as a child in the 80's!!Really friendly owner, easy check in, despite it being very busy for Skye Live, I got a bottom bunk as checked in when opened. Comfortable bed , a snorer in the room couldn't be helped, so slept just ok in light of that. Clean bathroons. Massive kitchen. Very good value for money, would definitely stay here again

We had booked skye high tour of Scotland organized by haggis tours and me and my wife were given lodging in this hostel by the tour company. Since it was a mixed dorm accommodation both of us were quite apprehensive as it was first time we were staying in a dormitory. But we were in for a pleasant surprise. it's centrally located in town square near to all restaurants.Hostel is quite cheery and bright with a welcoming lobby and bright passage ways. Dorm rooms are quite small but we were given a cheery room in first floor with a nice view of the street. Beds ,pillows and blankets are first class and very comfortable. The shared toilet and shower was clean big and comfortable to use. The outstanding feature was huge community kitchen with all facilities required for cooking including fridges, gas range , oven and utensils. There was nice dining area in kitchen. We had our daily breakfast here. You can get all cooking items in nearby coop supermarket. People of all age groups from senior citizens to couples to youngsters were staying here. Overall its a good option to stay for people on a budget who are comfortable with shared accommodation.

La única lavandería de Portree está en la parte de atrás del hostal. Los encargados te cambian monedas y te venden detergente para lavar... y es lo único que hacen. El local de las lavadoras es el más sucio que he visto nunca (los dueños ni siquiera lo barren), las máquinas están en estado lamentable (dos no funcionan, y el hueco de recarga de las que sí funcionan es una cochambre). No laveis la ropa allí: os dará asco ponerosla después.
