RR Club Amarilis

Appartement hotel , ruim appartement sober ingericht , schoon , badkamer toe aan renoveren , in bad douchen met oud douchegordijn. Bed smal en niet echt comfortabel. Ontbijt goed maar elke dag hetzelfde om te kiezen . . Prima locatie dichtbij supermarktje restaurants en het strand.

We stayed at Club Amarilis for a week over Christmas 2024. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you have time it's worth meeting the Brazilian man who is on reception for the night shift. He is very likeable and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we only met him on the morning we were leaving when we had to be ready for the coach transfer by 06.50. The apartment, on the 5th floor, was not the horror story that some people have described. The sitting room was large and comfortable, the kitchen was good and the bedroom was good. The bathroom was in need of renovation but for the price the apartment was good value. It was noisy on a couple of nights because of noisy motor bikes driving around the area but Club Amarilis can't be blamed for that. The other facilities are very good, i.e. the gm, indoor pool and outdoor pool. The cafe supplied a good breakfast. It's a five minute walk (two if you're quick) to the beach and to a bus stop where you can get a bus into Portimao, although you can walk into Portimao and to Ferragudo. We're in our seventies and we walked to both and back . Ferragudo is lovely. What we saw of Silves, another town publicised as a tourist attraction, was not impressive. The river looked like a sewage outlet and the Moorish fort/palace was not as interesting as many historical sites in the UK. I would recommend the Pinocchio restaurant for very good Italian meals.
