Decided to stop off here on the way home following a trip to Cornwall. I write this in the bar just having dined and cannot believe the quality of meal we have just had. Thoroughly outstanding from welcome to ambiance to service and the food itself. Well done all.

Hotel staff were excellent. Welcoming, helpful, cheerful. Dining room staff were excellent too - great service, good menu selection for breakfast and dinner, good food. Room was clean, comfortable, with good quality linen and towels. Decor of the bedroom was done well as was in the bar and dining room. Location really good for wandering around Porthmadog - visiting the Maritime Museum, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways, The Ship Inn, Cadwallader's ice cream shop, and much more.

The royal sportsman hotel is a lovely hotel in a good position, are room was a very good size, the breakfast had a good choice and I tried something different every day which was very good, the evening meal was top notch the choice of the menu was great we ate there twice I wish we had eat there every night but had booked somewhere different for the first night which was no were near the quality of there food.

We had 3 nights at the Royal Sportsman and found the staff very friendly and helpful, excellent meals and well located to shops, bus and train. As the hotel does not have a lift we were grateful for a ground floor room which we assumed were originally the stables. The only problem we had was that the beds were regular doubles (but there may be other options) and being taller than average found we both had restless nights sleep.

Friendly staff, excellent food (fantastic curry!), very good selection of drinks and a very clean hotel. There is limited undercover/in the open car parking and there is electric charging for cars. The hotel is centrally located close to the shops and services of Porthmadog. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

This was our second 4-night stay and we were equally pleased on both occasions. I could write a detailed essay listing every feature of the hotel but the most important things to us were: the excellent food at breakfast and dinner; the friendliness and helpfulness of staff and, essentially, those factors which make for a comfortable stay for a disabled person, viz the covered parking with a reserved Blue Badge space near easy access to spacious Room 3 with its accessible shower, etc. This hotel offers the best combination for our specific needs of any of the many hotels we stay at. We shall, of course, return as often as we can.

No availability for an overnight stay on night ( stayed in a B and B nearby), had dinner here. Very warm welcome from a lovely young man who looked after us very well. The food we had was superb - the best leek/potato soup ever, lamb rump cooked to perfection, linguine very tasty and hearty! A wonderful evening.

Really good hotel in a great location for restaurants and the railway station. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much. Lovely comfortable bed in a well equipped room. Great food in the restaurant .We would definitely stay again.
