Lungi Gateway Hotel

The hotel has a large, airy, spacious compound and the hotel rooms are very big. I wouldn't call it a luxury hotel though. It however provided a more than reasonable stopover to the airport for an early morning flight. There's also a shuttle to the airport so that is convenient. The staff are super helpful and attentive - they make the difference really. If I had to rate them alone, this would be a 4 star review. The facilities themselves let the place down a bit as they're quite dated.

A nice hotel with honest staff, but gave to give it only two stars as they don't know how to manage the mosquito or malaria risk, which is signficant in Lungi and in this hotel. They don't spray around the property properly, they don't have mosquito nets, they don't, even spray properly in the rooms. On my way from the airport I listened for fifteen minutes as a young staff told me she had gotten malaria. It's no wonder the negligent way they keep the property. I hope they will improve this as it would earn a four star rating, but right now is a malaria trap.

As long as one is not expecting opulence, these lodgings deserve a top rating. Service is abundant, attentive, and polite. The location, between the Lungi airport and SeaCoach ferry, is exceptionally convenient. Rooms are spacious and clean, with COLD air conditioning and HOT water. Delicious, well-cooked food is served at both an outdoor cabana and indoor restaurant. Breakfast is free. I sometimes take an early ferry and enjoy relaxing in the cabana before a flight. Similarly, I have intentionally reserved a room here to REST after a series of long flights instead of blearily continuing my travels into Freetown on a midnight ferry. Highly recommended!

Stayed there for few days and had great experience. Staff were very professional, accommodating and the service went beyond and above our expectations. Rooms are huge and have everything one may need. Breakfast was included, the chef makes great African omelette. Food on the restaurant menu was quite nice. Hotel is very close to the airport and airport transfer is included/complimentary. There is a beach next to the hotel, unfortunately it is very dirty, but if you walk along it for 40 minutes you will get to the nice clean part- a real heaven on Earth. Overall, great experience, great stay, great people in beautiful Sierra Leone!
