Hampton Inn by Hilton Port Hope Cobourg

Our check-in process was bad. Even though we booked 3 rooms, only 2 were recognized by the hotel. It took more than 30 minutes to check in, and the "solution" suggested by the hotel was to pay for my 3rd room. In addition to me being charged by Trip.com (C$777.21), I had to pay an extra $250.00 approximatey for the 3rd room. The 3 rooms my family stayed in were rooms 312, 317 and 318. In Ontario, I have stayed at different hotels. This was the greatest stay and experience I have ever had. The personnel was amiable and supportive, attending to all of my needs. I really appreciate it. With its many amenities, this hotel truly is a hidden paradise. The experience is genuinely unique because of the care taken in every little detail.

I just checked in this hotel. My first impression about this hotel was nice and tidy. Moreover I found the staff from Front desk, was so helpful and well organised. As part of my job, I travelled all over the world so I have stayed so many hotels. Frankly I haven't got pleasant experience my last few visits in States. But here I realised still there are decent and professional staffs exist, and yes Sean is the one of them. He was doing the front desk job and other things all by himself. And completed perfectly! Thank you Sean you just made my day!

I wanted to give this place a higher rating. Our first impression was the room was nice. We came during a busy summer weekend. 3 baseball teams and a wedding party (Sat). The hotel was understaffed and disorganized. They seem to lack communication between the departments and among their own department. The teams had prebooked the rooms through a block, so the hotel knew it would be busy with kids. A organized hotel would be prepared for heavy use of the pool- including having towels readily available. We go to the pool- and it’s busy with kids, and no towels. I use the phone in the pool area and call and request more towels. They bring a few but hardly enough for the amount of swimmers. I call back the front desk and no one answers. Finally when the phone is answered, I’m abruptly hung up on. I try calling back with no answers. Someone comes opens the pool doors and demandingly asks who’s is calling. I said I was calling to ask for more towels. I shared that the kids had nothing to dry off with and were making the hallway slippery as they couldn’t dry off. A kind house keeper brought more towels, and said that was all the towels left. There was a huge pile of dirty towels and she advised that the laundry was no longer available for the day. She also let me know that rooms are only serviced every other day. (Be very careful on the pool deck it gets very slippery. We saw a few kids wipe out on it.) That night we had the meeting room booked. I go to the front desk to get access to the room and I’m told we don’t have it booked. I pull out the contract and show him. He tells me that he’s been off and didn’t know. The next morning we go down for breakfast, and apparently the breakfast person did not show up for their shift. The front desk person brought over coffee and set some stuff out, and then went back to the desk. No one was there to help restock food etc. the manager was MIA. We had planned on our room being serviced on Saturday, as we learned it was every other day. It’s 2 pm and no one has come by, so I call and ask for it to be serviced bc we had no clean towels and needed fresh sheets for my sons bed. They said they would bring some up. No one showed. At 4 pm, I see the housekeeper finanalizing with the front desk. I go over and inquire when our room will be cleaned, and was told that we were on the list. Unfortunately, the front desk did not advise house keeping that several team members checked in the day before, so the rooms were never put on the list to be cleaned. It seems like they can update some internal procedures to have a more streamlined process. If you stay here be prepared to reuse towels and bring your own for the pool incase they are “out”.

March 2024 - Our Toronto-based hockey team stayed at the Hampton Inn (Port Hope) during a tournament. All families agree that we had a fantastic time!! The hotel is clean and well-managed, the staff are extremely friendly, professional, and polite, even as they had to deal with multiple groups of young and sometimes rowdy children!! Eldhose Paul and Mahmudh Alam in particular assisted us from booking to checkout and were absolutely amazing in accommodating all of our needs and special requests. Totally appreciate everything that they did for us and would definitely recommend the Hampton Inn if ever visiting the Port Hope/Cobourg area.

In Port Hope for the first time. The Hampton Inn will be my first choice in future. Excellent hotel. Staffs were professional and courteous. arrived at the hotel after hours, however check-in was easy. Receptionist was very helpful. The pool was immaculate and lovely. Met Paul Elthose upon checkout. He was very professional and friendly with us and saw that he was asking everyone about their experience. overall we had memorable stay at Hampton Inn.
