We booked this hotel for 4 nights in October. The booking was made in person by a friend who lives nearby. When we arrived the hotel was deserted and we waited ages for someone to turn up. We were then told no booking had been made (though I had the details on my phone) but we could stay for one night, move to another hotel for the second night and back to this one for the last 2. The room was old and tired. The headboard was at an angle with bare screws showing. There was a basket that we thought was for toiletries but there was only 1 shampoo, a bottle of Palmolive hand wash and a plastic shower cap in it but we let it go as we thought we had caught them on the hop by our, according to the owner, unexpected arrival. There were no drinking vessels, nothing in the mini bar, the tissue box, attached to the wall, was empty, there were only 2 coathangers in the wardrobe...and we were being (over) charged 80 euros a night! That evening we went to the bar (apparently the bar and restaurant are run separately to the hotel) We had 2 small brandies and 2 cups of tea and the bill for this was 30 euros! I think she saw us coming as a couple of nights later we took our friend for dinner there (no, I don't know why either!) We had 2 very mediocre main courses, and 1 other that was completely inedible 1 very small glass of prosecco and 2 bottles of water... no starters or desserts. There was no written menu and no prices given and we were told the bill would be 70 euros. The lady serving ( the same lady as charged us in the bar) saw the look of shock and reduced it to 55 euros but this was still far more than the much better food we had elsewhere.. Yup... she saw us coming ...again! The lady serving breakfast was lovely; kind and helpful but what was offered was sparse and mean. The next day we went to the other place...this was a beautiful building divided into self contained apartments but the one we were given was cold...we couldn't get the heating to work...and the sheets were damp. The shower curtain had only one hook and the whole place was dirty. We returned to the hotel the next morning and were shown the same room that we had occupied previously. The toiletries remained the same (1 shampoo and 1 shower cap and the handwash) it looked exactly as it had when we left it. On the morning we were leaving we asked to see the owner to point out these issues. We were accompanied by our Italian friend who had done the booking. We waited in Reception where we noticed that the curtains at the front window were really dusty and the loopy bits were full of dead insects both large and small. When the owner arrived she admitted that she recognised our friend and that a booking HAD been made. She had already decided to only ask 40euros for the night we had had to move to the other accommodation but, on reflection, and our insistence, she waived that charge entirely. However this meant that we still paid 240 euros for the 3 nights plus 85Euros for the overpriced
