Casa Da Ilha - Slow Living Residence & Suites

We loved the whole property: the sleek design, the amenities of breakfast and tea with cake in the afternoon and the staff were so wonderful! The owner, Nicolau was very hospitable and we looked forward to seeing both Jessica and Annabella in the morning before our days adventure. Their viewpoint of their island culture was invaluable and greatly appreciated. We loved their warmth and the fact that we didn't have to deal with a lobby full of hundreds of other customers. We highly recommend this place to travelers who want an intimate and Slow Living experience.

Stayed at Casa da Ilha for 8 nights. The stay was great! The room was clean and fresh and the really nice maid cleaned it everyday. Both the free wi-fi and air con worked great, which isn't always the case. Nice breakfast, home made bread everyday and different cheeses and cold cuts. Fresh fruit everyday. They even made us special breakfast when we needed to head out early one day, before the breakfast time, and made us a little breakfast bag to bring to our early flight. Coffee was free at all times which was nice. The hotel is a 10-15 min walk from the city centre, but with some nice restaurants around the corner, close to the ocean promenade for som nice runs and free parking just outside the door, great when going out exploring. Parking and driving in old town is a bit of a hassle. As we stayed over new years, they even put in a small bottle of sparkling wine in our room, a nice little touch! The only "negative" was that there wasn't a fridge in the room, so it was hard to buy some beers and keep cold in the room. But they hade a small "bar fridge" in the lounge that we could borrow to store some drinks and cheeses, so that wasn't really a problem. All in all, great value for money and great service at Casa da Ilha.

What a gem! I'm so pleased I found this guesthouse for my solo trip to the Azores. The house is a quick walk or drive to downtown Ponta Delgada, right on the water, with plenty of self-parking out in front. It's decorated in a lovely minimalist and modern style with comfortable touches, with some wonderfully abstract art on the walls. The rooms are decorated in the same modern way, with high end touches, a large bathroom, plenty of space to put your things, and a very comfy bed and pillows. My view was of the ocean and that was lovely! More importantly, the staff. I can't say enough good things about them! From Annabella in housekeeping, to Jessica in the kitchen, and owner Nicolau, the service was friendly, warm and welcoming. They all work incredibly hard, keep the rooms stocked and tidy, and cook some excellent breakfast (one of the best I've ever had in my years of traveling!). They all had suggestions for things to do on Sao Miguel, and even arranged a wellness activity/massage for me during my stay. I would come back here and stay again in a heartbeat!

We had four nights at this hotel and we must say that we cannot say anything bad about it. Staff is more than helpful, breakfast is amazing (you will get anything you want), location is perfect (near the city, but still quite). Also it is very clean and well equipped.

A Casa da Ilha foi uma boa surpresa. Localizada na zona de S. Roque, fica a 2km a pé da zona do centro de Ponta Delgada e a poucos minutos de carro. Junto a uma zona de praia, é ideal para quem quer aproveitar algumas horas para disfrutar das praias de areia preta desta zona. Toda a sua decoração boho chic e conceito eram inovadores. Aqui ao entrarmos sentíamo-nos realmente como em casa. Todos os funcionários foram sempre muito simpáticos e disponíveis. A partir do momento em que fazemos o check in até ao check out temos a total liberdade de entrar e sair como se a casa fosse nossa. O nosso quarto para mim era o melhor de toda a casa, uma vez que ficava no último andar e numa zona de menor passagem de pessoas. A única coisa que não gostámos tanto foi a insonorização, uma vez que se ouvia as águas da zona de duche do quarto ao lado, as vozes quando falavam um pouco mais alto, assim como algum barulho de carros da rua e ainda as portas e fechaduras a abrir e/ou fechar. Fazia sempre uma espécie de eco dos sons. Penso que o facto de as janelas não serem de vidros duplos em PVC não ajudavam a reter tanto o som, mas depois a construção em si também não tinha muito isolamento. No entanto, fora isso foi bom. O quarto também era bonito e espaçoso, tínhamos acesso a uma zona ajardinada exterior onde tínhamos duas cadeiras para aproveitar o espaço e a casa de banho apesar de não ser muito grande era bem equipada e com tudo o que tínhamos necessidade. No quarto não dispúnhamos de roupões, mas tinham chinelos, que dá sempre muito jeito para usarmos no quarto. Na zona comum da sala tínhamos sempre chá e café à discrição, assim como bolo e também quando chegámos tínhamos duas fatias de brownies como boas-vindas. Também dispúnhamos de uma garrafa de água gratuita todos os dias no quarto. O pequeno-almoço era servido por uma das funcionárias (não funcionava estilo buffet). Além da tábua de queijos, presuntos e fiambres, colocavam também sempre pão, bolo e um copo de sumo. Se quiséssemos mais coisas tínhamos de pedir. Nós pedimos ovos mexidos e leite e trouxeram-nos de imediato. No entanto, para quem gosta do conceito de buffet para poder escolher o que quiser e comer e beber à discrição não será a melhor opção.
