Macdonald Inchyra Hotel and Spa

The staff are excellent, very friendly and ensure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms in the hotel need updating; I would not choose to stay at the hotel again due to the rooms being quite basic for a 4*, and no safe in the room either. The restaurant area is nice. The bar area could do with an open fire, which would be in keeping with the property and, due to the bar's location can be quite cool. I found the lockers difficult to use; there are no instructions when trying to use them, only in the reception area. I did ask someone to show me, but they were too busy apparently, so I asked another customer to help me. There was no concession for late checkout on New Year's Day; however, upon request, this was granted. You also have to book for breakfast; therefore, on New Year's Day, I had to get up for 9 am to go down to breakfast, which was not ideal. I had paid for the trip online when I booked; however, when I came to checkout, I was charged the full amount again and was informed that there was no log that I had already paid, but when we arrived and checked in, it was acknowledged that I had paid, it was a good job that I had the email displaying that I had paid. Upon further investigation by the hotel, it was noted that I had paid. I thought that I had read somewhere that there was an option for a set menu for NYE, but al a carte was still an option however this was not the case. The food was ok. The stay was made better due to the friendliness of the bar and restaurant staff, all credit to them.

Staff excellent, hotel clean. A little overpriced, outdated furniture and no usable sockets anywhere near the bed. Also charging 3x the price when a concert is in town is a little disingenuous.

Room was poor considering the price was expensive for 2 days . Service at breakfast was poor. Asked twice for our coffee and toast and had nearly finished our breakfast before we got our coffees. We felt there was a lack of atmosphere in the hotel from the day we arrived. Poor considering this was my birthday I was disappointed with the whole experience and won't be back

Nice lodge room out in the court yard, had everthing we needed. Nice room, comfy bed with good ensuite with shower. Good choice for breakfast and all in a good location.

Nice spa, receptionist helpful and gave all info on food times, booked us in for breakfast and dinner. Very slow service at dinner, not attentive to getting drinks served etc. took over 15 minutes for us to be asked what we would want to drink. Same at breakfast time. Poor service and wouldn’t pay to stay here again at the prices charged.

One night stop over in a large spacious room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Huge comfortable bed was just what was needed before the big push to the south after our trip to Moray. Perfect location for visiting the Kelpies and Waterwheel

Service was good but room looked like it was from the1950’s. Bathroom was clean but bed had a cheap hotel feel to it. Way overpriced and carpet from the 70’s!

The room was clean and fresh although I would not necessarily class it as Deluxe/Executive. No air conditioning and the room gof quite stuffy/warm at night despite windows being open to let air circulate. Shower and toiletries were excellent. We had dinner in the hotel. The food was overpriced and not cooked to order requirements. The wine was not properly chilled either. Breakfast was average with a number of items incurring a supplement, including a staggering £4 for a cappuchino/latte/hot chicolate. We were not offered additional coffee. The swimming pool and sauna/steam room were excellent. Overall, the hotel food and drink offers poor value for money and rooms need some proper air conditioning.

Great hotel, clean, friendly staff just food a bit expensive. Would have been perfect if food sensibly priced. Doesn’t need to be London city prices here for relatively basic food.
