I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Tiger Mountain. When coming to Pokhara, we debated about whether to stay by the lake, or several other venues in the hills around Pokhara, but kept coming back to Tiger Mountain and thinking that while it was by far the most expensive, it would be a special experience. When we arrived, we were the only ones staying that night and were given a room with a direct view of Machhapuchhare and the Annapurna range. The views from the main lodge, the pool, the grounds, and our room were priceless. Sunrise and sundown were especially spectacular, and you receive a wake up call and tea or coffee on your porch to take it all in. The food was fantastic, and we went with Nepali for lunch and English for dinner, and that was a nice mix, and the meals were delicious and fresh. Drinks by the fire in the evening were also a treat with some light snacks provided. The decor is really lovely in the main lodge and in the rooms with items from Nepal as well as other countries. Our room had a comfortable bed, warm shower, and a space heater as well as hot water bottles under the blankets. We turned the space heater off right before bed and felt sufficiently warm. We took several walks with a local guide, ranging from 3-7 hours and saw many views of the mountains, local villages, and so many trees, birds and butterflies. We highly recommend taking advantage of that offer. We did not brave the unheated pool except for dipping our feet in after a long hike, but the views are amazing - from the lodge you can see Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu. We went down to Phewa Lake one afternoon, which was nice, but the refuge of Tiger Mountain is so wonderful we really would not need to leave the area for several days. After the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, or even the traffic of Pokhara, being in the mountains was the respite we needed. The staff are fantastic - we felt very pampered. Many of the staff have been there from the beginning, some of whom helped build the lodge. If you are in Nepal, we highly recommend visiting Tiger Mountain and experiencing a bit of luxurious tranquility and supporting this special regenerative tourism experience.
