Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour

My husband and I visited Guadeloupe in November 2023 and stayed at Habitation Samana Beauséjour in The Cottage (Solitude) for seven nights. We were inspired to visit Guadeloupe by the British television show Death in Paradise which is filmed on the island with episodes shot at this property. Our stay was a glorious experience. The property is an amazing and magical place. Etienne and Didier were kind, thoughtful, informative, helpful, accommodating, and gracious hosts. We are so grateful to them for welcoming us to their home and for our week in this paradise with amazing views of mountains and sea. The cottage was perfect and exceeded our expectations in every way. It was very private, very clean, very safe, and very comfortable with everything we needed. We loved living in the open air and having our own private saltwater pool. We even had our own Harry the lizard! (Death in Paradise fans will understand that!) Driving is a bit of an adventure on the island and the drive up to the property is no exception. Fortunately, my husband was up to the challenge as was our rented Suzuki Swift. One of our favorite parts of our stay were the dinners with our hosts. The food and drinks were fantastic and the company was even better. Highly recommend! Breakfast was also wonderful, so don't skip them. We only speak English so if you don't speak French, don't let that stop you from visiting the island or this guesthouse. Etienne and Didier both speak English and we managed just fine around the island (with a little help from translation apps). We will never forget our wonderful and restorative time at Habitation Samana Beauséjour and our adventures in Guadeloupe.

What a beautiful guesthouse and such fabulous hosts! The setting and its gardens are stunning. Food excellent and hosts so charming. We had a lovely room with its own verandah looking to the sea and private hot tub. We joined Didier and Etienne for dinner which was great fun. They made our stay special. The format of a big table breakfast to chat to other guests worked really well and we met interesting people from all over the world.

Absolutely beautiful property with attention paid to the details. A stay here feels like a luxurious escape from the world. You are immersed in a lush, bountiful area surrounded by nature. Wonderful pool with a perfect sunset view every night. Great breakfast every morning with friendly and attentive hosts who get to know you and your preferences over the course of your stay. We stayed in 3 different spots in Guadeloupe and this was by far the best. High-quality food, rooms, and shared spaces. Highly recommend!

We had an incredible stay at Habitation Cafeiere Samana Beausejour. Didier & Etienne have created a truly magical residence and would highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore Basse Terre. The residence has a authentic family atmosphere. Breakfast was a great start to day especially with the largest tea collection we have ever seen! Didier and Etienne were kind enough to speak english for us but helped us to practice our french where we could. We stayed in The Cottage which had great facilities and felt very private. The plunge pool was great for cooling off and we also used the well equipped outdoor kitchen to cook some fish we build at the local market. The ain infinity pool is spectacular and a great place to watch the sunset. The evening meals felt like meals with old friends and really made are stay feel special. Both Didier and Etienne are skill chefs and we would highly recommend eating at the residence on the nights that they are cooking. We loved their pets who were always pleased to see us. The roads around the island are challenging due to the mountainous terrain and the road up to the residence is no exception. Be sure to hire a powerful car as you may struggle to climb the driveway in a low horsepower compact car. So in summary we loved our stay and plan to return as soon as possible. Delme & Hannah

An idyllic peaceful eco-friendly resort with the most beautiful sunset in Guadeloupe. We went for Spring Break and loved the accommodations, such good night sleep on amazing beds, privacy in every room and delicious breakfast every morning. We especially loved the Table d’hôte dinners with the Hosts and their helpful guidance and suggestions for an amazing memorable trip!

We so enjoyed our visit. Not only are the grounds beautiful but Didier and Etienne were gracious hosts who attended to our every need—breakfast, dinner reservations in town, recommendations, a bucket for champagne—they really made the visit into a 5 star trip. They also are wonderful cooks with meals just as good or better than you can get in local restaurants. The grounds are beautiful and they have a wonderful eye. The location is secluded but also central to local villages, beaches and the national park. A wonderful base camp. We will return and recommend to all our friends.
