So, where to begin...? Wow. It’s difficult to completely put a review around this place because, quite sincerely, it may just be the most odd lodging experience I have ever encountered. We were privy to comments from staff that included: “Well, you ARE in the Poconos.”; “I don’t give a s&!%.”; and “Yes, that’s definitely not normal...”. The craziest part about the experience is I am not even sure I would say the staff is the problem! Truthfully, the place is so darn outdated it is, quite literally, falling in on itself. Now, provided you don’t need to use the men’s bathroom, washers and dryers, or the pool, on any given day, you may not be inconvenienced. However, I was lucky enough to be there when ALL of those amenities were “out of order” at the same time! Chance? You tell me. Regardless, the most convincing part of my review-contributing experience was the intermittent “buzz” that we dealt with for THREE FULL DAYS with no reprieve. Even better than having what sounded like a fish tank pump lodged between our ceiling and the floor above was the amusing interaction with staff when we reported the problem. Allow me to cut to the chase: not only do they have not a flipping idea what the source of the issue is; they have no intention of really finding out. It was a running joke among the staff that the “mysterious” buzz was being investigated as though it were the first time any guest had reported it. We had 3 “maintenance guys” visit our room to experience the “buzz” only to find out later from a staffer, speaking under anonymity, that the noise has been occurring for some time and had been reported by many guests before us. Couple the “buzz” with the dilapidated nature of the rooms and the common areas and you can rest assured that, if there were a nearby cliff, this lodge would be encouraged to “jump”. “One and done”, as they say.
