The building is old and has beautiful quirks. Bear in mind that due to the age of the building, you will hear a lot of floorboards creaking and noise from other rooms. My room had a bath and was very spacious. It was a shame no fridges, but the biggest problems for my stay was no WiFi as I was working for 4 days. The issue was 'managed' very badly by the manager and some reception staff. The problem started on day 1 and had a big impact on the enjoyment of my stay. I discussed it with the top manager on leaving and it was managed very well. I am just sad it wasn't resolved properly sooner and very disappointed with the staff. If you need WiFi I would check with the hotel in advance.

A classy hotel in the centre of town , close to the port with princely and clean rooms . The staff’s very helpful and friendly !

It's a great hotel that seems to flucate in price, but you can get some good deals. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and I would be happy to return!

The shower was not draining fast enough but other than that it was great. wifi was very stable and fast as well

Had a lovely stay once again. The staff are all lovely and friendly, Pippa always greets us on arrival very professional and definately a peoples person, cant wait to return next week 🤗

I've stayed here years ago and will return. Old fashioned hotel, but definitely worth more than what they charge. Shower pressure is incredible. Wish mine was like that at home.

The reception staff were incredibly welcoming, and the location is fantastic, with plenty of restaurants and charming cafes nearby. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and well-maintained. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would definitely come back. The only caveat was the extremely slow internet connection below 2MB (unable to make any video calls), which feels much like the amazing antiquated decor.

Strongly recommend this hotel. Very well presented and maintained. It has been a pleasure to stay here.

A warm welcome awaits you at this homely hotel. It has had some interesting guests over the years including Charlie Chaplin and the explorer Ernest Shackleton. There is an atmosphere of travel and adventure weaving through its history. Well located it is central and convenient. They serve quite a good breakfast too. They have private parking on site although this can be busy/full. There are other options nearby. In sum: well located and comfortable place to stay in a characterful building.

Really nice hotel, reasonably priced,a couple of minutes from Barbican Area.
