Rose and Crown Yealmpton

Another visit to this rather good pub with EXCELLENT staff and food although sometimes the descriptions are not totally accurate! This didn't detract from the quality but did raise an eyebrow or two. Arrival was swift and friendly, the bar area very welcoming and spacious after the recent revamp and plenty of tables indoors and out. The menu was imaginative and the food very enjoyable with a good selection of wines, beers and ciders especially the St Austell stout. Spotlessly clean rooms which are well equipped, some with showers and some baths. Mine had a patio area which was nice but a little 'public' from the resident's garden but nice to sit and read there. The only disappointment was that it's next to the water pump room for the hot water so rather noisy when the pump kicks in. Unless you want a patio it's probably best not to have this room and not worth paying the 'premium' rate for. Overall an enjoyable stay and the staff, especially Kirsty, are a true credit to the St Austell brewery company.

The rooms are slightly separate from the pub and we heard no noise from the busy friendly pub itself. The room was very clean and smart. The staff friendly and very helpful. I can recommend this establishment to anyone. As other reviews mention, the food is excellent (especially the full English breakfast). The evening meal options are fairly limited but the quality of those we had were very good.

Stayed for one night to attend a family event the following day. The king size bed was very comfortable with lovely crisp sheets and soft pillows. Good selection of teas and coffees in the room. The meal we had in the restaurant was excellent including the service. Maisie was very friendly, attentive and professional as were all the staff. My only criticism was at breakfast it was very clear in daylight that the restaurant needs a bit of maintenance.
