Background for our trip. After a bereavement, cancer diagnosis and treatment, a house move and lots of other stuff we needed a complete rest, peace and relaxation. This hotel is spotless, both the communal areas and our room, and nice Spanish style decor with a modern twist here and there. Victoria on reception very welcoming and helpful. The safe and WiFi are included. There was an almost 60 Euro tourist tax for 10 days. A smallish hotel so you get to know the staff, the majority of whom are lovely and friendly. The All Inclusive is no longer AI to prevent binge drinking so if you like to drink alcohol outside of mealtimes you need to take note of this. A government rule, not the hotels. 3 alcoholic drinks per person at lunch and 3 at dinner. Outside of these times you get 50% off. A beer is 1 euro 90 cents. Hotel has a policy of no sunbed saving which guests took note of. Pool/sunbeds open at 10am and you can always get a sunbed. Plenty of shade and several huge umbrellas. One buffet restaurant. Food standard buffet style. Plenty of variety. Hot food sometimes cold. If you can't find something to eat every day you must be a very fussy eater. Food also at pool bar but we didn't eat there. Choc puddings in buffet restaurant exceptional! It was Oktoberfest so lots of very drunk, loud Germans celebrating at the pool bar and encouraged to do so by the one older barman. Noise didn't bother us as we lived in Germany for 8 years but if you want peace and quiet don't book in Oktoberfest. We are not big drinkers but love nice coffee. We had a bad experience at the pool bar. The older guy/barman who talks all the time shouted at us when we ordered 2 cafe con leche. We ordered in Spanish and were very polite. We are a quiet, calm, older British couple in our 60s and know how to behave respectfully! He refused to make them and shouted machine machine at us several times. He came across as very arrogant. The coffee from the machine isn't that nice. On checking with Reception they confirmed that the nice coffees which need to be made by the bar staff are included for AI guests. He was very rude to us on only our third day of 10 and it ruined our holiday to the point where I cried the next day as I just wanted a relaxing holiday with no drama to recover from my breast cancer. Marina at the pool bar was lovely and did her best to make up for her rude colleague and made it obvious that she didn't like the way we were treated by her colleague. We have been travelling all over the world for over 40 years and have never had to complain about a hotel staff member before but we were so upset that we complained to Camila, the guest experience manager. We were offered 2 free beers after the incident but I was so annoyed I declined as all I wanted was what I had asked for, 2 nice coffees. The next day we were given 2 complimentary espresso martinis, a bowl of fruit and 2 bucks fizz. A nice gesture but we would rather not be shouted at in front of fellow guests and
