Mariposa Belize Beach Resort

We booked a 9-day visit to Placencia, staying at Mariposa the entire time. It was our first trip to Belize. The charm of Placencia village and Mariposa made this a memorable trip! The resort setting is beautiful, with constantly changing waterfront views. The accommodations are spacious, clean and very comfortable, and the property is impeccably maintained. We originally booked a treehouse, but due to the construction of additional new treehouses, we were offered a large room in the main building as an alternative. This was a pleasant surprise, as the room was waterfront and had its own private balcony. We arrived via Placencia airport, and Mariposa provided transportation from and back to the airport on our departure. Throughout our visit, the staff was helpful in making any arrangements we needed for a pleasant trip. The pool and beach are beautiful and relaxing. The Breezeway Restaurant food is excellent, and we think that it is the best we had in Placencia. The staff are exceptional, with everyone so friendly and eager to help make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Special recognition goes to Gladis S., who goes out of her way, every day, to ensure a pleasant stay for all with her friendly smile, engaging sense of humor, energy and delightful conversation. Our expectations were exceeded, and we look forward to a future visit.

They advertised 2 for 1 mojitos on Friday for $6 USD and then charged me double that even though it was CLEARLY advertised on their menu. We loved this place and we were going to make this our new favorite spot while we were here for several months until they screwed us over with this and wouldn’t even acknowledge their own menu advertising. The bartender happily billed double and said that’s what it is. DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE.

We were welcomed as true VIPs by Donny and George and felt right at home. Property is beautiful and very well maintained. All staff we encountered were kind and thoughtful and seemed to truly enjoy working at Mariposa. Donny is a very committed and experienced manager and truly cares about providing guests with a top-notch experience and hired a wonderful crew; shout out to Carlos, Moses and Gladys. Our cabana amidst the trees felt spacious for our family of four and was very clean. It had a nice deck with a hammock as well. We will be back!

Wow! The accommodations were excellent! Stayed in a “treehouse “ where we were greeted with fresh flowers on the bed, as well as a cute towel bird display and a/c cooled room😀. The staff was top notch and very friendly. Plan to visit again !! Little piece of heaven by the beach!!

Staff was amazing. They catered to our every need. Gladis, George, Donny, Carlos, are wonderful people with great attitudes. The tree top rooms were amazing, comfortable beds and cold A/C. They kept them clean and the fridge stocked with beverages. I would definitely recommend you book your stay here. The food was incredible, zero complaints. One of the cool things about Mariposa is that there are not a bunch of rooms, it’s much more personable and you get more privacy.

Mariposa Beach Resort swept us off our feet in every possible way! Donnie and his incredible team (Glaydas, Carlos x3 Oliver and others)showered us with warmth and care from the moment we stepped foot on the property, welcoming us with refreshing towels and heavenly island drinks.They went above and beyond to ensure every moment was magical, including organizing a heartwarming and romantic dinner for our last night—a gesture that left us speechless. Their hospitality wasn't just top-notch; it was downright unbeliezable! Did I mention ...From breakfast, lunch to dinner...The food was Absolutely Amazing!!!! We didn't just find a vacation spot; we found a second family. Can't wait for our next reunion with Donnie and the team at Mariposa Beach Resort!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this resort!!! There are only 11 rooms - we stayed in a treehouse and it was perfect. The bed was super comfy and the a/c worked well. The service was outstanding on all fronts - everyone seemed genuinely happy to have us there and it felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves which was really cool. Anything we wanted they made it happen! All of the food we had there was delicious as well!

My husband and I stayed a week in one of the “Tree Houses” at Mariposa Resort. The staff was absolutely wonderful. All went out of their way to help us and to answer any questions that we had. As a bonus, we got to know them personally. We discovered many things about their beautiful country, their homes, their families and their work. We shared many stories together which made our stay much more meaningful. The tree house was beautifully crafted and very clean. The beds were so comfortable, and there was plenty of space for the two of us. We loved having a sitting area and hammock on the porch. The ‘jungle’ setting for the tree houses is beautifully landscaped and very private. There is a short walk to the restaurant and beach. There are more tree houses planned for the near future, but I think the area will maintain its private feel. We were happy to be away from the busy-ness of Placencia Village. We traveled easily back and forth to town in our rented golf cart and on the bicycles offered by Mariposa. We enjoyed the use of the kayaks, as well. We enjoyed the ease of having a restaurant on site, and could choose to sit by the ocean, or in a comfortable open air space protected from the sun and wind/rain. The menu was a mix of Belizean and American fare. We had our favorite breakfasts of granola, yoghurt, eggs and Belizean breads. The grilled fresh fish dinners were also very tasty. If I were to suggest anything at all, it would be to have hooks on the interior walls of the units for jackets, hats etc. That would have made a lovely stay even lovelier!

The Mariposa is a lovely spot, but what really stands out is the staff - friendly, efficient and kind. We had a treehouse, which was spacious and spotless. The location, exactly 2 mins and 15 seconds from the tiny airport, and just a quick golf cart ride into Placencia, is great. We'd been in the jungle, and on some of the southern cayes, and we wound up our Belize trip here. It was a lovely finale.
