We arrived a few minutes prior to check in and were told by the lady in the coffee shop below that they hadn’t cleaned our room yet and we’d need to wait twenty minutes. We happily sat down with a coffee to wait. Thirty minutes later, I attempted to follow the check in instructions left to me but the room key was not left where the instructions said it would be so I checked with the lady in the coffee shop again. She told me my room still wasn’t clean. I ended up waiting 50 minutes after check in before she told me it was ready and the key should be there. Again, I tried to follow the check in instructions but our key wasn’t there. I checked with the coffee shop lady again (separately owned business, but she was so incredibly helpful despite it not being her job to help!). She then took pictures of my reservation confirmation and called the owner. The owner said he had double booked the room and other people had already been in the room this whole time. He couldn’t find confirmation of my booking anywhere. The coffee shop owner then said the owner would reach out to me through the platform several times. At this point, I also reached out to support. Support said the owner would reach out to me through the platform. He never did. Instead, I got another automated email telling me how to check into my room (same instructions). Finally, two hours after check in time, support reaches out to me and says they have an “upgrade” to another room and that room is ready for me. I follow the instructions to check into that room (which by the way isn’t an upgrade - it’s the same level/price). The room hasn’t been cleaned - the bed is unmade and slept in, used towels are on the floor, dirty dishes are in the sink and trash is on the table. I reach out to support and let them know. The coffee shop lady also checks on me and I tell her. My husband and I walk around town a bit waiting for our room to be cleaned. An hour later, support messages me that the room has been cleaned. Spoiler alert: it hasn’t even been touched. We let support know again. Our room didn’t end up being cleaned or ready until sometime between 6-7pm, 4-5 hours after check in.
Another couple was also waiting for their room beyond check in time with us originally. Their room was ready a bit sooner than ours, but they later told us they didn’t have any electricity in their room and had to move rooms.
Pros: the location was nice if you want to explore old town and the coffee shop below was superb.
Cons: super difficult and late check-in, didn’t receive the room I booked, poor communication, bed was so hard I checked to see if it was even a mattress (and I prefer hard beds!), shoddy cleaning, and the room is set up with windows to the inside of the downstairs businesses - lights in those businesses were left on overnight making our room pretty bright overnight.
