When we arrived, there was no word of welcome just an instruction to leave the carpark immediately as all the places were taken. There were several people at the reception but no one offered any help with our luggage, there was no welcome to Pesaro, no local map offered to identify where we could park, no information about the hotel facilities, the possibility to eat in their restaurant, the time of breakfast (for which we had paid in advance) or the beach. We speak and understand Italian very well, incidentally. This was Fawlty Towers without the charm. Apart from this, the corridors were dark and musty and the hotel had a sinister, neglected feel about it. The room was barely acceptable for the price we paid and the bed had a worn, dirty looking bedspread. Having experienced wonderful hospitality in another hotel in Bologna only a while ago, the contrast was just too painful. We felt unwelcome. When we checked out having spent virtually no time at the hotel, they insisted on collecting the 7 euros tassa di soggiorno even though we had paid then a non-reimbursable 500 euros for two nights. These people have no shame. Of course, there was no offer to help with our luggage. We recently stayed in an Ibis Budget in France: the guy on the reception there made us feel really welcome with a broad smile to his economical, but spotlessly clean hotel. He could teach these lazy shysters something about the hospitality industry.
