Subject: Complaint Regarding Misleading Breakfast Policy – Mercure Perth
Dear Trip.com / Mercure Perth
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent stay at Mercure Perth, booked through your platform.
At the time of booking, the listing clearly stated that children aged 11 years old and under are entitled to free breakfast when accompanied by a paying adult. I have attached a screenshot from the booking page showing this information under the Policies section.
Although I did not include breakfast in the initial booking, I made the decision to dine at the hotel based on this displayed policy. However, upon arriving and inquiring at the hotel, I was informed that only children under 2 years old are eligible for free breakfast. I was told that children above that age would be charged AUD 12 per child, and the adult buffet price was AUD 35, contrary to the AUD 25 displayed on the booking page.
This inconsistency between the advertised information and what was implemented on-site is misleading. I booked this property expecting that my two children, aged 6 and 9, would receive free breakfast when accompanied by paying adults. This false representation significantly influenced my decision and caused confusion and added expense during our stay.
I kindly request the following:
1. A compensation for the misleading breakfast charges related to my children.
2. A review and correction of the breakfast policy information currently displayed for Mercure Perth.
3. A formal apology for the inconvenience and misrepresentation experienced.
I trust this matter will be taken seriously and resolved promptly. Thank you.
