Macdonald Plas Talgarth Resort

We stayed in Lapwing 3, 2 bedroom apartment. Typical Macdonald furnishings. Confortable and well equipped. . Friendly reception staff. Showers were powerful and warm. Elemis toiletries. Smart TV but needed Chrome cast to connect to Internet. USB charging ports with plug points. Heated up quickly when used to give a quick boost Enjoyed a couple of dips in the heated outdoor pool. Lovely Indian meals at the onsite bar/restaurant Plenty to do in surroundings area - Corris craft centre, Aberdyfi - beach, Aberystwyth - Cliff raikway, Machynlleth - book, charity & antique shops Lovely to relax, look out on the hills and listen to the birds

Booked 7 nights but didn't even stay one! Stunning location but, sadly, not stunning accommodation. As members for over 30 years, to say we were disappointed, is an understatement. On entering the resort we noticed how unappealing the buildings looked. Not luxury accommodation, as the website photographs show. Upon entering our accommodation, we were greeted with a damp smell. One of the bedrooms throws on the bed was covered in hair. Dirty mark on the bed cushion. Kitchen, had crumbs on countertop. The kettle had seen better days. Fridge freezer dirty. Bathroom looked lovely and obviously new. Shame about the disgusting toilet brush and the almost empty bottles of Elemis products! Lining of curtains, filthy. Doors leading out of kitchen had flies, dirt trapped. Mold on walls. Very friendly receptionist took down details and apologised profusely, trying to find a solution. Unfortunately our solution was to repack car and take the four hour journey home! Having our little dogs with us, couldn't check in to another hotel. Such a shame as a beautiful area.

Just return after a little night away after our camping trip. Staff are really friendly and willing to help with all needs. We were a little disappointed that the indoor pool and spa was ran with a pre booking system of an hour at a time as this was the main reason for booking this resort and a little more time in there would have been nice. Check in wasn’t until 5. That’s my bad for not reason the booking form properly and just assumed it would be around 3 as that’s when most of these types of places allow. Our room wasn’t the cleanest. There was a hair in the bath before we had even used it and a few cobwebs here and there. But it was serviceable for what we needed it for. We’ve been to many macdonald property’s and this unfortunately didn’t meet the expectations or standards we have experienced before.

Just returned home from a long weekend here. We stayed in an Apartment for 4 people and 2 dogs . Pros -Amazing views! These were stunning. -The Apartment was of good size and the rooms were big enough with lots of storage. -Staff seemed friendly and helpful. -Grounds were lovely and the wildlife was great to see. - Cons - The apartment wasn’t clean and there were loads of cobwebs, spiders and dust. I took the hoover out and cleaned these. -The bed linen had hairs on them. -The cutlery, plates, cups were tiny. -The complex needs updating and some TLC - Unfortunately the outside pool was not in use. Never ate at the resort as it was very expensive but there was a pub down the road which was amazing, and the food was fabulous! Would I return? I think so as it’s great for the dogs but wouldn’t return if it wasn’t for the animals.

We book a 3 bedroom apartment for a family of 5. The rooms were big and the kitchen was big and lots of space to move around. Nice balcony view. Two toilets. The place isn't modern but we liked the place. Not everything has to be modern. For the price and the facilities available it's a great deal. I used the indoor swimming pool everyday including the jacuzzi and the steam room. It's around 20 minutes drive from Aberdyfi beach. The staff were friendly. I would stay again and recommend other families looking for a nice affordable holiday then to stay at Macdonalds plas Talgarth resort.

I was quite apprehensive in advance of our stay after reading reviews on here... However we had such a great stay. Our apartment was incredibly spacious with gorgeous views & we loved having the balcony to sit out. The kitchen had everything we needed & it really felt like a home from home. The beds & pillows were super comfortable... And having a sauna in the 3rd bathroom was such a novelty. Our boys took full advantage of everything on site... Table tennis, Pool, pitch & put golf, park, tennis. The grounds are also lovely. The location is perfect too as a base for exploring ... We love aberdovey & spent hours there. Yes it is a little dated, and it is a shame the outside pool isn't open but we had a fantastic time and our boys loved it... They definitely weren't bored!! We're already eyeing up dates for our next visit.
