Polean Farm Cottages

We stayed at Polean Farm Cottages in Looe for a week in August 2024, and I can honestly say it was the worst holiday accommodation we have ever experienced – and tragically, it was the last holiday I had with my dad before he passed away in December, which makes it even more heartbreaking. The pictures on the website made it look so amazing but they were misleading. The children’s indoor play area had rodent droppings, the swimming pool and several other advertised facilities were shut, despite it being peak season, and the general maintenance of the property was shocking. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, the shower was blocked and nearly flooded every time we used it, and the lounge sofas reeked of urine. We actually had to clean them ourselves, several times, just to make it bearable. We tried repeatedly to contact the hosts (who were away at the time), and the person left in charge on site was completely uninterested and offered no assistance whatsoever. This stay was an utter disaster and we will not be returning!

We stayed in The Mealhouse with our 3 year old and it was perfect! So cute and cosy. The view was lovely, and the activities such as animal feeding and tractor ride were so wholesome. We absolutely loved it. Felt it was really well based for activities, but rural enough that you really felt you were getting away.

We had a lovely week at Shires Rest, which was comfortable and had everything we needed. Our little ones loved the animals, tractor rides, animal feeding and the games room/play areas. Polean Farm is really peaceful and well located close to lots of great places to visit. We had amazing weather which was brilliant! I’d definitely recommend it as a place to visit, particularly with small children. Also thanks to Sarah and the team who were so helpful at tracking down our son’s lost cuddly toy (sadly left behind oops) and posting it back to us!

We've had a great week at Polean Farm Mealhouse cottage. Place was clean, cozy and warm. Animal feeding, horse riding and games room on site, swimming pool at nearby campsite. About 10 minutes drive to Looe, just over 30 minutes to Eden Project.

We booked an out of season break in March and we loved every minute. Our cottage was so cosy and peaceful and very spacious!! It was very clean when we arrived too. My daughters absolutely loved the Guinea pigs and enjoyed the games room. I messaged a very helpful and friendly lady to ask if we could book an out of season feeding experience, I’m so glad I did my girls loved it!! Simon who lead this experience for us was very patient and friendly 😊 Our only recommendation would be if maybe different toys etc could be added in the game room We will definitely be returning 🥰

We really enjoyed our stay , the place was clean, a good size and in a good location, the electric charger on site was really helpful, the site itself is lovely . We did feel the £80 for the 2 dogs was very expensive though, we have stayed in numerous air bnbs before with our dogs and never paid that much , we’ve normally paid £20-£40. And even so there is normally some local treats for the dogs , a towel and bowl, which there was none of these at Polean farm. The curtain upstairs doesn’t really block out much light , so light evenings with a toddler was tough and I feel people who may like a lay in wouldn’t get one due to the light coming in. so it may be benefit from a good blind or better curtain.
