In general a good place to stay. This was our second year there. Only low point was check in. We were early, about an hour before check in time, so didn't expect too much.
After being told we would have to wait the desk changed their mind and said a room was available, great, except it wasn't what we had booked and paid for. We were given a room with the view from the balcony being the balconies of the same-chain hotel approximately 10 metres away opposite with a small planted area between, not city view as advertised. Additionally the water from all taps was hot, too hot to stand under. Reported both problems to the front desk. Were told there were no other rooms available, they were full, and we had caused the water problem somehow. Said we would check out and expected a full refund. Went for a walk to give them time to consider. On return the water was sorted and we were told we could change rooms in 2 days.....costing an extra 5000 Baht, and couldn't get a refund regardless. Didn't suit me but as usual bowed to the wife's wishes and we took the new room. Only difference from the room we shifted to and the room we booked was the level, level 6 as opposed to levels 2 to 5 which we had booked. Additional cost was about NZ$10.00 per day so not a lot, more of a principle thing. Being told a refund wouldn't happen seemed more of a threat, they wouldn't have won that battle.
Apart from that everything else was very good. Can't comment on the food as the restaurant was closed for the duration, as it was last year. It is the low season there so that makes sense but makes the unavailability of rooms seem a little strange.
Tossing up whether or not to go back next trip, in general the staff are brilliant.
