My wife and I along with our 11-year-old twin girls recently spent two nights at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Parsippany as our base to explore the immediate area and New York City. That said, here was our takeaway: Lobby/first impression – On a day that it was a down pouring outside, it was nice to get off the road and settle in for the evening. We walked in to a spacious, clean lobby that presented well before being greeted by the front desk staffer. Albeit she was very polite and accommodating, she seemed a little frazzled being the only one on duty (as she mentioned to us), and understandably so. We felt sympathetic for her as she tried her best to check us in while fielding questions from guests, and did appreciate her checking us in in a timely manner. Location – Great location for all those looking for a stay just a few minutes from the I-287 and right off the US-46. Its also just a short drive from many shops, restaurants and other conveniences, with a CVS next door to the hotel if needed. Being just over a 30-minute drive from the Weehawken ferry terminal (for New York visitors), was definitely a selling point for us, given the sky high hotel rates the closer you get to the port. No complaints where location is concerned, perfectly suited our needs. Rooms – While there was an issue with our originally booked room (water leaking from the outside window onto the carpet), the lady at the front desk was more than happy to accommodate us and promptly switched our room to a better one. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and provided all the necessities for our stay. No real complaints here. Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast was a plus for getting our girls fed for the day, located to the left of the hotel lobby in a sunken area before you reach the front desk at the rear of the hotel. A very comfortable space with a relaxed vibe that made for a great way to start the day. Items included a cereal, eggs, sausage, etc., and ample seating. Decent breakfast. Other stuff: While this issue may have been resolved at the time of writing (or not), be mindful of the quirkiness of the elevators, especially if your room is on the 4th floor. For some bizarre reason, one of the elevators always terminated at the third floor, no matter how many times you pressed the fourth floor button. This made for the unfortunate inconvenience of having to walk up to the fourth via the stairs every time. Funnily enough, going down wasn’t an issue, but going up always made for a bit of a lottery, depending which elevator you took up. The elevators generally seemed a little glitchy, but as aforementioned, this issue may be resolved by now… or not. Value: We managed to get a room at a competitive rate ($126 USD), and felt it matched the quality we received in return, and much better priced than some of the other hotels in the area. As far as budget friendly New Jersey hotels go, we found this to be good value, given the astronomical r
