Do not expect a room to be available even if you have booked and paid. We booked two rooms to rest after a flight arriving at 4am before driving home. Incredibly rude staff member said “we have double booked you only one room available” and dumped a key card on the counter. We showed booking confirmation and were told “not my fault take it up with travel lodge” I explained that since she worked for them and represented them we needed her to find a resolution. She sighed and said “this is why I don’t work nightshift anymore” we were kept waiting for an hour during which time at least ten rooms checked out. Staff refused to clean a room, book an alternative airport hotel or even issue a refund. Staff member just ignored us disappearing into the office where I could hear her chat to a colleague about her rota for the following week and discuss who had called in sick and the fact that double bookings happen all the time. No manager available after 4am even by phone, no housekeeping staff available till 8am and reception staff refused to even put clean bedding in a room for us as it isn’t company policy. Staff refused to provide evidence that we hadn’t had use of a room. Ended up having to drive home at 5.30am instead.
