Thimbiri Wewa Resort Wilpattu

Hotel is located near the Wilpattu National Park. We selected the hotel for 1 night stay to do safari. Overall experience was very good. Price was reasonable. Very friendly staff and management. Hotel room and the view were excellent. Room was clean and new. It had all the promised items and a good hot water shower and enough space (the double room). Very safe area. I definitely recommend this place for a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

The resort looks brand new, with modern rooms, delicious food and a nice pool. It overlooks a lake with a breathtaking sunset. Staff is very friendly and eager to help. On top of this, the resort is next to an entrance of the safari park which is very convenient. Highly recommend!

Nicest hotel in the area. Great view of sunset. Good food at roof top terrace. Great service from Rakifa and the rest of the team. Pool is relaxing after a long safari day. Enjoyed the stay and the service….! incl. to go breakfast for the early morning start.

Rooms were amazing 😻 The time I got on the bed I fell sound asleep Food was good 👍🏼 All okay. There was a helpful staff who were friendly. Just one problem… Bugs. Should keep the place a bit more clean 🧼 Pool ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ All the best for further development 😁😁

the location is stunning the restaurant provided 5*service & generosity. bed so comfortable and spacious we were upstairs also option downstairs pool perfect thunderstorm for effect after our safari - the safari driver took us home to save our driver waiting for hours 😃

This is a great place to stay for Wilpatu NP. It is close to the park entrance and fully set up for Safari Guests. The staff are extremely pleasant and catered for all my needs, the rooms were comfortable and extremely clean and the food was simple but tasty. The pool is an added bonus! I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Wilpatu and would stay here again if I’m in the area.

We stayed in this hotel for a one night food was not up to standard. Breakfast time, one of the staff asked how our children like their eggs cooked and whether they want any sausages. Then one of the waiters came with plate of toast, butter and jam. They have done so many eggs, some eggs weren’t even cooked properly looked disgusting. It’s like they don’t even know what’s in English breakfast is. (Because when I asked what’s for breakfast they said it’s English breakfast) Resort have very small amount of staff, the lady at the front and the young boy who done our room was very helpful. The night we stayed in the hotel there was a power cut for an hour. We couldn’t contact any staff, non of the phones were working. They took nearly an hour to switch on the generator. Wi-Fi was not working, no phone was in the room. We do not recommend this hotel. Not worth the money we paid.

I stayed for a week at Thimbiri Wewa Resort. I selected this resort as it was only 8kms from Wilpattu National Park. The room was on the first floor (105) and was modern,clean and spacious and overlooked a nearby lake. I had a couple of issues that were readily fixed by the staff. Most of the safaris involved a 5 30am departure and the catering staff always ensured my breakfast/lunch pack with water was on time as was the driver/guide , Johnny. Johnny was an expert at wildlife spotting and driving at the same time and was amazed he could do both at the same time. Due to his expertise on the six safaris I saw four Leopards, over sixty birds, six reptiles and eleven mammals. I had a memorable time in the park and thank you again Johnny. If I returned to Wilpattu I would definitely stay there again.

A recent hotel that features up-to-date comfortable beds, AC and fan, small fridge, etc. The good size bathroom has ventilation that you cannot close (fixed ventilation grill) which we don't like as it exposes the bathroom to the climate and permits a way in for critters. The room was nicely decorated and uses different materials on the walls for an accomplished design. A good size swimmingpool big enough for pulling some lanes and a nice stair to get in/out comfortably. Staff accomodates with towels and fixing the parasols so you can just enjoy your stay at the side of the pool. As usual, the wifi is not much, but it is just better to get yourself a cheap prepaid sim and avoid the frustration of Sri Lankan wifi in hotels all together. The restaurant features a small but qualitative buffet at a good price (1500 LKR per person). We had our dinner here every evening and appreciated the variating offering of local and international food. The breakfast offered is english-style with fresh fruits, fresh juice, eggs as you like them with sausage, toast with butter/jam, coffee/tea. An attentionpoint is the reception of the hotel. It is not manned all the time, so if you need something you need to go to the restaurant where you can get some help. As a guest this way of work is unnecessarly cumbersome and frankly frustrating the first time you need something and are forced to go on a mission to find someone... somewhere... We really had a nice stay in this hotel, we do recommend and would come again when visiting Wilpattu NP.
