Nipponia Hotel Ozu Castle Town

結論としては、同じ金額払うならこういうタイプのホテルではなく、通常のホテルが私的には合っていると思いました。再訪はないと思います。 【部屋】 想像していたよりも清潔感がありよかったです。ただやはり、古民家のため窓そのものが完全に閉まりきらず虫が入り放題だったのは残念。 【設備】 水回りは現代的でよかったですが、お風呂のシャワーの位置が微妙でした。 温度調整する部分が下にありすぎるのと、椅子は低すぎでした。 【スタッフ】 人によってばらつきがあり、そこがすごく残念でした。例えば、朝食会場では、説明をしてくれる日とそうでない日があり、スタッフによってサービスのレベルが異なります。 また、朝食会場は終始慌ただしくバタバタと足音を立てるので落ち着いて食事ができなかったです。

スタッフの応対、食事、施設どれも素晴らしかったです。古民家なので鴨居が低くうっかりすると頭に当たるので、その点チャックインの際にお声掛け頂いたら更に良かったです。

A hotel that is using renovated old buildings in old Ozu. You live in a townhouse and walk around for the various amenities. Especially the dinner at the foot of Ozu castle was an experience with local ingredients and high quality. Highly recommended

The scenery here is quaint and perfect for photos, the food is delicious, but the dinner area has poor ventilation for cooking fumes.

Staying in a preserved castle town was like stepping into living history. Every building whispered stories, every path led to calm. The retreat wasn’t just quiet—it was soul-deep stillness. The scent of old wood, the flow of the river, the silence at night—this was not a hotel stay, but a journey through time and self. A perfect retreat for those seeking meaning, not just luxury.

Nipponia Hotel's concept is novel and makes for a wonderful visit to an historic castle town. We stayed in a restored Meiji era merchant's home, with beautiful restored wood floors and traditional walls and shoji interior doors. It is one of many that comprises the hotel. Because the "rooms" are separate structures and the dining facilities are also separate, you walk outside on the narrow streets of the historic town to get to breakfast or dinner. (There is also a shuttle to get to the dinner venue just below the Castle) Once you wrap your head around the concept, it is a wonderful way to visit. The staff were kind and helpful, despite a few minor lapses which I would chalk up to inexperience. Our Japanese was a bit rusty but the staff managed to communicate well, for the most part in English, and even through google translate when necessary. A couple of things to note. Our room was a duplex with the bedroom and sitting room upstairs and the WC and bathroom downstairs. The stairs were narrow and steep, which is typical in Japanese homes. This was not an issue for us but for those with limited mobility, you should consult with the staff when selecting a room type. Breakfast and Dinner are included and consist of a large and delicious traditional Japanese breakfast and a multi course Japanese French fusion dinner with a set menu. We stayed four nights and had four distinct and very good dinners. Over all, considering the somewhat remote location of Ozu, it was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations.
