I booked a twin room for my sister and I last weekend as had a family celebration in Oxford. It was a dingy looking twin room which I don't think has been in use for ages, needed some tlc (room 7) the furthest room possible. The wardrobe door didn't shut unless something in front to keep it closed, electric socket hanging off the wall when we unplugged the kettle for the use of the fan as it was do hot in there. Put towel on towel rail in bathroom and it fell on the floor, water took ages to get hot. Kettle had lots of black bits in the bottom, dirty marks on sheet and pillow, stains up the wall by dressing table/rubbish bin, sash windows not opening/closing. My sister had loads of bite marks on her leg after sleeping in the bed. I wouldn't put an animal in that room and certainly wouldn't stay there again and we paid £95

We picked Pickwicks on a family recommendation for visting our granddaughter at Somerville college. A warm welcome, really nice bedroom and a lovely dining room overlooking a leafy courtyard. Easy access to city centre in a cab or a 45 minute brisk walk.

Really enjoyed our 5night stay. The manager and every staff member were so friendly, polite and attentive. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. I was apprehensive about being in a room at the front due to previous reviews re noise but it honestly wasn't a problem at all. The breakfast room is delightful and leads to a beautiful relaxing well kept garden with nice furniture. Choice of cooked breakfast served to you or continental breakfast if preferred. I would definitely recommend Pickwicks and look forward to visiting in the future. Trip Advisor says this hotel is 'pet friendly' this is incorrect as they do not accept pets

We had a travel nightmare but the staff were so accommodating and helpful when we finally arrived. Nice, fresh food, clean and comfy beds. Decor a little tired but fine. Lovely gardens with plenty of parking. On a main road with lots of buses straight into Oxford. Pubs and shops nearby too. Good value for money.

Close to John Radcliffe hospital where my dad was admitted, decent breakfast, selection of restaurants nearby, room size was OK, shower was nice and allowed to keep my car there for a few hours after checkout, so that saved paying hospital car park

The property has the potential to be a lovely B&B but is generally dated and tired. On arrival we were shown to our room which was called a Superior Double, it wasn't superior. We were then offered another which was bigger. We had paid in advance and had to go to the hospital asap so we accepted it. There are no bathrooms available with a bath in. The shower was good. The bed was a king size and comfortable. The room is in need of repair and redecoration. The windows are single pane and one window pane had a crack across it which had been repaired with sellotape. The carpet is old and needs a deep clean or replacing. On arrival you are required to order breakfast the next day. It was barely warm. Sadly I like a hot breakfast.The cook told us that the food must be hot because it is kept on a "hot" plate until needed. After further explanation on day 2 (we didn't eat it) we were served a hot breakfast on day 3, so we were listened to. Parking was available. The staff were smiley and friendly but I wouldn't go there again, there are better rooms to be had elsewhere.

Interesting how our review isn’t shown in *********** reviews! Very damp room, smelt damp and had mouldy door frames, window frames and even a slug in the bathroom. DO NOT BOOK THE TWIN ROOM. It obviously isn’t let out very often and really needs some attention. On reporting the problem, we were told it was the only twin room and that THEY “would inform the owners”. BUT they are the owners and did nothing to apologise or rectify the matter. Will not stay again and will not trust *********** again as clearly there is something not right for our review to be ignored! See photos

Pickwicks is a little gem. If you’re looking for five star, sparkling clean accommodation keep scrolling. If however you’re looking for somewhere a stones throw from the John Radcliffe with clean beds, hot water, a hearty breakfast, a friendly and caring reception you’ve found an ideal place. We were well cared for, well rested and well fed for the six nights we were there.
