Berluda Farmhouse and Cottages

The rooms in the main building area are very good and spacious. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent with different things of goodies, Lovely setting in the valley with a view over the mountains,

We stayed here for one night only thankfully! We arrived in the evening after a long day's driving only to be informed that the restaurant was closed & we would have to return to town to hit up the supermarket. Very little info given at check in,mainly regarding tours that could be taken the following morning. It seemed the girl doing check in wanted to head home for the evening. The self catering chalets themselves are rustic & romantic. Lovely bathroom & very comfortable. There is a fireplace in the cottage & an outdoor one also. Unfortunately our biggest concern was regarding safety. Kindling & matches were provided to light a fire. But when we checked the outdoor fire grate the chimney was completely overgrown with trees. A disaster waiting to happen. We were also provided with a faulty electric blanket. This was the most frightening thing. There was a loose connection to the blanket that sparked/burned the mattress & bedsheets & burned me. I dread to think what would have happened if this happened in the middle of the night,again a recipe for disaster. Needless to say we left first thing the next morning. It's a pity because it was a lovely setting.

Thanks so much to Cindy & Eric who were so helpful & accommodating. Thanks also to Anja for the informative ostrich farm tour. What started off as a planned a 3 night stay, turned into 5 nights. We have recommended Berluda to our friends and family and they know that they will be in very good hands & forget the city life once they enter your beautiful establishment. To the owners: pity we never got to meet you, but Brandon & I will be back for your honeymoon suite next time - just the two of us ;-) Thank you
